Interestingly, Radio Archives, a pulp reprint publisher, reproduces very nice epubs of a number of old pulps, of which Thrilling Wonder Stories is one such title.

Thus far they have 47 issues out, issued in no consecutive order. One issue - February 1950 - which is one of the three novelettes that makes up This Island Earth, is included in that issue. The other two novelettes (both 1949), have not yet been published.

I buy from them regularly. Each pulp is priced at $3.99, but if you join their email list, then every two weeks they send you a list of additions to their extensive catalog, and each pulp is only $1.99. After two weeks, each one goes up to $3.99.

Yonks back one acquaintance of mine scanned and OCRred the original Shasta edition into an epub. I think this was triggered when he looked at the Amazon mobi edition which did not have any of the illustrations and another homebrewed edition which had the illustrations basically as thumbnails.

There was an anthology, They Came From Outer Space edited by Jim Wynorski that collected stories that inspired various science fiction movies, including the Alien Machine stories that inspired This Island Earth. But yeah, no official digital version.

So many neat old anthologies are out of print.

If it is in Gutenberg then it is out of copyright in that particular iteration of Gutenberg. They are very careful.
