Mmmm batternberg...
Today so far we've had sun, wind, rain, hail and thuder. Slightly oddly, the thunder was with the hail, not the rain... |

Incidentally, rainy-rain raining on us like rain today, with more for tomorrow and the day after as TC Hamish heads south (though now not expected to make landfall). Also, it's chilly - 25C max. today, and only 24C max. for the next two days. Brrrrr. Cheers, Marc |

Snow. Some schools are closed, but not the ones my kids go to, or the university at which I allegedly work. I was working from home today anyway, as I had a doctor's appointment this afternoon. In one of the towns where school closed. This is the second time I've had to reschedule this appointment due to snow. I've rescheduled to April 2. We've had snow that late before, but only once in my lifetime. We'll see what happens.
Marc, if a cyclone picks up your house, where would it take you? You're already in Oz. ![]() (Yes, I do know the difference between a Kansas "cyclone" and a tropical cyclone.) |

Sunny with a few clouds and 81 F (27 C). Hard to believe that just a week ago I was surrounded by snow.

Happily, for the last few days, even if the sky is grey and dark, temperatures have gone over freezing and snow and ice are melting.

Our TC Hamish has been downgraded to Category 3, and at this stage it looks like he's going to turn back on himself. The "Watch" alert for our area has been removed, though we've still got the storm tides (on top of the spring tide). We went down to the woods at the rivermouth this morning. The tide has gone over the banks in some spots, and the sea is up, and the beach is closed and worn back to the rocks or the trees in spots (I took some pictures, just for the record). Winds are gusty, but not bad at all. The rain is on-again off-again. It looks pretty miserable, though temperature-wise I'm still sitting 'round in my shorts. At the moment, I guess a lot of tourists here are uttering the phrase ""Sunshine Coast", my arse!". Hopefully in a day or so the beach will re-open, because there could be some nice waves going (certainly the surfers are goin' nuts up at the points in the National Park). At the moment, it's 6' of storm-dumpers out the back, and only a couple of idiot tourists are swimming on Main Beach, no doubt watched by several binoc's from the watch-towers. Cheers, Marc |
