Well, now that I've transferred a number of books into the glo, I tried to compress the database but had this error

@anacreon I had the same error on my Mini when trying to compress the database. The database checked ok first, and then the error on compression.

Maybe they already were on your Kobo prior to the resend?
Delete them and transfer them again using KoboTouchExtended Driver.

If that doesn't work delete them again, re-convert them to epubs within Calibre and send them again afterwards.

If all of that doesn't work - well I got no ammo left...

Database compression has nothing to do with me, that's the Kobo Utilities plugin written by davidfor. I think there's a thread for that plugin, make sure you post this error in that thread so he's aware of it.

As jgoguen said, that is in my utilities plugin. The error is after the compression has been done successfully and the results are being displayed. I'll have a fix up soon.

My bad, but I saw davidfor saw it and solved it in one go and there is no need for me to repost (I never found how to do that without duplicating it with the copy/paste).

I just updated my Kobo Glo to the 2.10.0 firmware. My problem is that now only books I purchased at the Kobo store have the reading stats features (chapter length, time left etc.)

All books I had already uploaded with Calibre are not displaying the Kobo features. New books I've just uploaded don't show the features either.

I have checked manually, and the books have been sent as kpub to the device. Yet, as I said, the device no longer recognises them as such.

Is there anything I'm missing?

kerb: This has been discussed extensively here and in the Kobo sub-forum. As of firmware 2.9.0, the in book stats are no longer displayed for sideloaded kepubs. There is nothing we can do about this except encourage Kobo to bring them back.

So I was having that problem where when tried to send books to kobo it would fail. What people here told me it was a bug of windows xp and usb.

I was opening calibre->connecting kobo->get error

No I tried a different approach and for 3 times it worked without a problem.

Here's what I did: connected kobo->open folder (like it was a removal drive/usb pen)->(copied a file there to see if it worked without calibre, no problem)->opened calibre->sent the books->success.

So does where does it stand the problem? I'm inclined to believe it's a bug with either calibre or kobo or both. After all if it was a problem with usb/windows xp, I would have get the problem no matter what I tried, right?

@snowstone: There is a problem with the communications between Windows XP and the Kobo devices. But, not all setups. I have an old WinXP laptop that works perfectly. And where it hasn't worked, connect the ereader to a Win7 machine, even a slow netbook, and it works

The problem seems to happen when accessing the database on the device. This is why it shows from calibre, but not when using the device as an MSD. Someone has reproduced he problem without using calibre. Because of this, it might be something to do with doing lots of small changes to a large file.

Maybe this is not the best place to ask, but because of new firmware without reading stats in kobofied epubs I wanted to know if someone could describe differences between epub, kepub and kobofied epub? Things like stats, handling of footnotes, page numbering per chapter or book, image zoom, etc. I lost track of it all and now I'm not sure if e.g. stats are available in kepubs and epubs but not in kobofied epubs or only in kepubs. Or how does a footnote look like in epub (as I use only kobofied epubs where there is a popup with footnote).

As of firmware 2.9, state are available in KePubs, but not in ePub or Kobo-ified ePubs (the KePubs produced by my plugins). Page numbering by default is per-chapter for KePubs (both mine and Kobo's) and full-book for ePub, but if you prefer full-book page numbering there is a driver option to force that. Image zoom I haven't used much, but it works well for me in generated KePub books. As for the rest, I'm sure there's someone here who can speak to how it works

Got my Kobo a week ago and was disappointed because it doesn't show the pages remaining in the chapter that I'm currently reading.

But I just found this plugin and was so excited that I made all the translation to Brazilian Portuguese.

I'll test the plugin as soon as I get home. Thanks for this. I just wish that it was possible to do this with regular ePubs as well...

Hi,

I have a request and I don't know if I should write here, open a ticket or whatever. Anyway, I explain it here and you tell me. As from 3.1.0 release, the book cover for sideloaded kepub books doesn't appear at the book details screen. This thread explains it. Could the driver be modified so, if you choose to upload covers, it will upload the "AndroidBookLoadTablet_Aspect.parsed" file too?
