Seems to depend on the area. We get Sunday delivery routinely for prime. From USPS, always. Sat will often be Fedex Green (ground) or USPS.

Download a free MP3 of Peter Tchaikovsky's Valse-sherzo, courtesy of YourClassical. The 6 minute, 27 second piece is played by the Odense Symphony Orchestra, with Jennifer Koh on the violin. Alexander Vedernikov is the conductor.
Take a look at the information about the complete album, Tchaikovsky: Complete Works for Violin and Orchestra here. You can download the free piece by accessing this webpage and clicking on the "Direct MP3 download link." The offer is good for today only, after which there will be a new free offer for Thursday. |

Like the idea of having Spotify Premium, but put off by the $14.99 per month charge for each person in your family?
Well, I got an email a little while ago letting me know about their new Premium for Family plan. You can get up to 6 accounts for the $14.99 per month. Sounds like a good deal if you have even two people in your family (that would be $7.50 each. Wow!). But for six people that would be only $2.50 each per month! I like Spotify, myself. The main benefit of Premium, in my opinion, is that it is ad-free. And the last few times that I've used the regular Spotify, it seems like their ads are far more numerous/more frequent than they used to be. But you can investigate all about the plan and things like that by following the link that I'll give you in a second. Terms and conditions apply. Everyone in the family has to reside at the same address. And, probably people like your first cousin by marriage, once removed and people like that are not going to be eligible. The only potential problem that I see is if you've got deadbeats in your family. It could be frustrating for you to get everyone in his or her family to put their share of money in the jar every month like they're supposed to. And you end up with the job of bill collector. See what you think. https://www.spotify.com/us/family/. Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 10-05-2016 at 04:24 PM. |

I don't know yet (or have forgotten) when exactly YourClassical posts these freebies each day. But I know that it's earlier than now. Meant to send this out sooner in the day. The delay in part was in having to make some preparations for Hurricane Matthew, a category 4 monster, whose eyewall is projected to pass within about 60-70 miles of here.
Anyway, the free piece from YourClassical today is Michael Haydn's Serenade: V. Allegre molto. It is performed by members of Virtuosi Saxoniae. Ludwig Guttler is the conductor. It is a 5 minute, 11 second piece in the MP3 format. If you'd like to know more about the album from which the piece is taken, click here. Once you're ready to download the piece, you can navigate to this webpage and click on the "Direct MP3 link." If you don't get a post about a YourClassical freebie from me tomorrow, or the next day, it's probably because I won't be able to get online. I expect my electricity to be out for at least 24 hours because of the Hurricane. You can always find out anything about the YourClassical freebie of the day that you need to know, though, by starting from this webpage. |

Today's free piece from YourClassical is Vincent d'Indy's Symphony No. 2: III. Modere - Tres anime.
I've liked all of the YourClassical giveaways, but I am particularly interested in listening to all (I'm listening to it now) of this one, because d'Indy is not a composer whom I recognize. The piece is played by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Jean-Luc Tingaud is the conductor. The piece is in the MP3 format, as are all of the YourClassical freebies. It is 5 minutes, 28 seconds long, and comes from the Naxos album d'Indy - Symphony No. 2: Souvenirs, Istar, Fervaal. Find out more about the album that the free piece comes from by going here. If you want to download the free piece, there's a download link, "Direct MP3 download link," that you need to click, on this webpage. With it being Friday, there will be no more YourClassical freebies for a couple of days. ![]() I've listened to the entire piece now, and being the uncultured hayseed hick that I am, about all that I can tell you is that is sounds good and that this is a lot of violin in the piece. If you are a subscriber to Naxos' New on Naxos newsletter, you may be aware of the following. But in case you missed the monthly email, or you are not subscribed to the newsletter, I'll fill you in on this.
There are three free albums available, once again, directly from Naxos. I hesitate to say "three free," because actually you get a choice of one free album from among three choices. Each month's freebies, I have come to find out, center around a theme. This month's is "Halloween." Klaus Heymann writes: Halloween, All Hallows' Eve, All Saints' Eve – whatever your preferred moniker for October 31, a number of countries will be revving up during the coming month in anticipation of this eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day. Nowadays, it's keenly anticipated by many for the attendant carnival of ghoulish pranks and fancy dress, but it's observed more traditionally as the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints, martyrs and all the faithful departed. This watershed zone between life and death has inspired some highly affecting music from many of the great composers, examples of which are on our choice of free albums this month. The three albums come from Rachmaninov. Liszt, and Mozart. As always, all of them are in the high-quality flac format, no others. If you are a subscriber to the newsletter, scroll down it nearly all the way (if your email software truncates messages, make sure that you're seeing the entire message). There will be a list of the albums that you can choose from, and quite a bit of information about each one of them. Immediately after that, there is an orangey-colored button that says "Click Here to Make and Receive Your Choice." When you do that, you come to a webpage that very clearly tells you how to make your choice. There is also some additional information about each of the albums. If you are not a subscriber to this newsletter, you cannot access the webpages that I mentioned above. We've discussed this matter on this thread, so unless you are a newbie, you have no excuse if you haven't subscribed. However, I have heard that sometimes a person can subscribe and get access to that month's free choices; on the other hand, I have heard that some people are not able to, until the following month. Keep in mind that Naxos also offers another free album each month that they announce by a newsletter, but you do not have to be a subscriber of a newsletter to take advantage of that offer. I am not much of a TV or movie watcher, so I don't know if this is a good deal or not.
For one year, you can get Hulu for $5.99/year. After the year is over, the plan returns to $7.99/month. This is valid for their Limited Commercials plan only. This offer is good for new subscribers only. In case you have not had a chance to use Hulu before, you can get one week free to check them out and see how you like them. Find out all about this promotion by starting at this webpage. |
