They've changed some of the titles already. I just assumed they rotated these titles at the same time as the weekly deal, since it's also listed with them. So much for assuming.

Welcome to Downpour Deals, a frequently updated section of handpicked titles at great discounts. Check back often to find new deals and catch the fleeting ones before they're gone.
I'll modify when they expire when I post the new deals tomorrow.

There's a new free short up at Audible. If you interested in "The Journey" by Isobelle Carmody, you can currently get it for free here.

Quote:
A bonus never-before-released short story by best-selling author Isobelle Carmody.

Before the apocolyptic Great White - and the regressive theology that ruled the decimated population in its wake - the city of Uropa is a gleaming metropolis devoted wholly to materialistic consumption.

When Emma arrives to meet her childhood idol and continue her research into the emergence of psychic abilities, she must adapt quickly to conceal her personal interest in the subject and protect herself from the city's opportunistic residents.
It was just released today; I have no idea how long it will be free so if you're interested don't delay.

Enjoy!

Friendly Reminder

This audiobook is due to be released in another month (24 May). It's still free and you can pre-order it through the link below.

FREE -- Adventures of Tom Stranger -- Larry Correia/ A Baldwin --> 2.1 hrs --> sci-fi --> details

Quote:
Have you ever seen a planet invaded by rampaging space mutants from another dimension or Nazi dinosaurs from the future? Don't let this happen to you! Rifts happen, so you should be ready when universes collide. A policy with Stranger & Stranger can cover all of your interdimensional insurance needs. Rated "Number One in Customer Satisfaction" for three years running, no claim is too big or too weird for Tom Stranger to handle. But now Tom faces his greatest challenge yet. Despite being assigned the wrong - and woefully inadequate - intern, Tom must still provide quality customer service to multiple alternate Earths, all while battling tentacle monsters, legions of the damned, an evil call center in Nebraska, and his archnemesis, Jeff Conundrum. Armed with his Combat Wombat and a sense of fair play, can Tom survive? And will Jimmy the Intern ever discover his inner insurance agent? It's time to kick ass and adjust claims.

Adam Baldwin (Firefly, Chuck) performs Larry Correia's madcap interdimensional tale of underwriting and space travel, where the only thing scarier than tentacle monsters is a high deductible.

Woof --> Bowser and Birdie (book 1 of 2)

Whispersync: the Audible book is $3.47, if you own or borrow the Kindle ebook ($1.99)

Bowser is a dog detective on the loose, paired with an 11-year-old girl, Birdie. Bowser and Birdie live on the Louisiana coast with Birdie's Grammy. When a prize stuffed marlin is stolen from Grammy's bait and tackle shop, Birdie and Bowser decide to take on the case. But what looks like a straightforward break-in soon becomes as tangled as a tourist's fishing line.

Was Grammy hiding a treasure map in the marlin? What's up with Old Man Straker, owner of a rival tackle shop, and his juvenile-delinquent son? And most sinister of all, why does it suddenly look as if someone wants to harm Birdie?

Told entirely from Bowser's hilarious dog point of view, Woof launches a brand-new slightly slobbery but utterly winning detective duo.

$3.99 -- Never Too Late -- Robyn Carr/ Therese Plummer --> 10.8 hrs/ R-4.2 --> humor

Quote:
Whispersync: the Audible book is $12.99, if you own or borrow the Kindle ebook ($4.99)

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Robyn Carr examines the lives of three sisters as they step beyond the roles of wife, mother, and daughter, and discover the importance of being a woman first.

Clare Wilson is starting over. She's had it with her marriage to a charming serial cheater. Even her own son thinks she's given his father too many chances. With the support of her sisters, Maggie and Sarah, she's ready to move on. Facing her 40th birthday, Clare is finally feeling the rush of unadulterated freedom.

But when a near-fatal car accident lands Clare in the hospital, her life takes another detour. While recovering, Clare realizes she has the power to choose her life's path. The wonderful younger police officer who witnessed her crash is over the moon for her. A man from her past stirs up long-buried feelings. Even her ex is pining for her. With enthusiasm and a little envy, her sisters watch her bloom.

Together, the sisters encourage each other to seek what they need to be happy. Along the way, they all learn that it's never too late to begin again.

The Amber Keeper

Whispersync: Audible ($1.99) -- Kindle ($1.99)

After her mother's suicide, Abbie Myers returns home to the Lake District with her young child - and no wedding ring. Estranged from her turbulent family for many years, Abbie is heartbroken when she hears that they blame her for this tragedy. Determined to uncover her mother's past, Abbie approaches her beloved grandmother, Millie, in search of answers. The old woman reveals the story of how she travelled to Russia in 1911 as a young governess and became caught up in the revolution. As Abbie struggles to reconcile with her family, and to support herself and her child, she realizes that those long-ago events created aftershocks that threaten to upset the fragile peace she longs to create. Set against the backdrops of the English Lake District in the 1960s and the upheavals of revolutionary Russia, The Amber Keeper is a sweeping tale of jealousy and revenge, reconciliation and forgiveness.

The Leap: The Science of Trust and Why It Matters

Whispersync: Audible ($1.99) -- Kindle ($1.99)

We’re not supposed to trust others. Look at the headlines. Read the blogs. Study the survey data. It seems that everyone is wary, that everyone is just looking out for themselves. But a sense of social trust and togetherness can be restored. In The Leap, bestselling author Ulrich Boser shows how the emerging research on trust can improve our lives, rebuild our economy, and strengthen society. As part of this engaging and deeply reported narrative, Boser visits a radio soap opera in Rwanda that aims to restore the country’s broken trust, profiles the man who brought honesty to one of the most corrupt cities in Latin America, and explains how a college dropout managed to con his way into American high society. Boser even goes skydiving to see if the experience will increase his levels of oxytocin, the so-called "trust hormone."A powerful mix of hard science and compelling storytelling, The Leap explores how we trust, why we trust, and what we can all do to deepen social trust. The audiobook includes insightful policy recommendations along with surprising new data on the state of social trust in America today.

Darkness Revealed --> Guardians of Eternity (book 4 of 12)

Two hundred years have passed since Anna Randal gave herself to Conde Cezar in a night of relentless passion. Since then, Anna has become filled with unearthly power she can't begin to comprehend. And the sexy, charming vampire responsible has eluded all of her efforts to track him down, until now . . .Cezar's blissful encounter with Anna cost him two centuries of penance. Now, commanded by the Oracles to keep watch over Anna, Cezar finds himself torn between his need to protect her-and to possess her.Someone wants Anna dead. And as an ancient enemy prepares to wage a terrifying battle, Anna must decide whether to succumb to a dark, burning desire-and accept a destiny that could change the world forever . . .
Quote:
We Are All Completely Fine

Whispersync: Audible ($3.99) -- Kindle ($1.99)

Harrison is the Monster Detective, a storybook hero. Now he’s in his mid-30s and spends most of his time not sleeping. Stan became a minor celebrity after being partially eaten by cannibals. Barbara is haunted by the messages carved upon her bones. Greta may or may not be a mass-murdering arsonist. And for some reason, Martin never takes off his sunglasses.

Unsurprisingly, no one believes their horrific tales until they are sought out by psychotherapist Dr. Jan Sayer. What happens when these questionably-sane outcasts join a support group? Together they must discover which monsters they face are within, and which are lurking in plain sight.
Quote:
The Blue Nowhere

Whispersync: Audible ($12.95) -- Kindle ($1.99)

Jeffery Deaver, best-selling author of The Empty Chair and The Bone Collector , now turns to the labyrinthine world of cyberspace - a world where the most powerful can lose their wealth, their minds, their lives with a hacker's touch of a button. When a sadistic hacker, code-named Phate, sets his sights on Silicon Valley, his victims never know what hit them. He infiltrates their computers, invades their lives, and lures them to their deaths. To Phate, each murder is like a big, challenging computer hack: every time he succeeds, he must challenge himself anew - by taking his methodology to a higher level, and aiming at bigger targets. Desperate, the head of The California State Police Computer Crimes Division frees Wyatt Gillette, imprisoned for hacking, to aid the investigation - against the loud protests of the rest of the division. With an obsession emblematic of hackers, Gillette fervently attempts to trace Phate's insidious computer virus back to its source. Then Phate delivers a huge blow, murdering one of the division's own - a "wizard" who had pioneered the internet - and the search takes on a zealous intensity. Gillette and Detective Frank Bishop - an old-school homicide cop who's accustomed to forensic sleuthing - make an uneasy team. But with a merciless and brilliant killer like Phate in their crosshairs, and his twisted game reaching a fever pitch, they must utilize every ounce of their disparate talents to stop him.

$0.99 -- The Trial -- Franz Kafka/ Geoffrey Howard --> 7.8 hrs/ R-3.4~3.9 --> literary classic

Quote:
Whispersync: Audible ($2.99) -- Kindle ($0.99) <-- or --> Audible ($3.49) -- Kindle ($5.84)

Josef K. is an employee at a bank, an Everyman without any particular qualities or ambitions. His inconsequence makes doubly strange his “arrest” by an officer of the court, made with no formal charges or explanation. Disoriented and consumed with guilt for a “crime” he does not understand, Josef K. must justify his life to a “court” with which he cannot communicate. The defendant can only ask questions, but receives no answers to clarify the surreal world in which he is compelled to wander.

Through the court’s relentless bureaucratic proceedings and absurd juxtapositions of different hypotheses of cause and effect, the whole rational structure of the world is undermined. The trial of Josef K. becomes a chilling existential metaphor for life itself, where every sentence is a sentence of death.

Killer Instinct --> Killer Instinct (book 1 of 2)

Whispersync: the Audible book is $3.99, if you own or borrow the Kindle ebook ($8.99)

She’s not evil, but she has certain … urges.

Lane is a typical teenager—loving family, good grades, after-school job at the local animal hospital, martial arts enthusiast—but her secret obsession is studying serial killers. She understands them, knows what makes them tick. Why? Because she might be one herself.

Lane channels her dark impulses by hunting criminals—delivering justice when the law fails. The vigilantism stops shy of murder. But with each visceral rush the line of self-control blurs.

And then a young preschool teacher goes missing—only to return in parts.

When Lane excitedly gets involved in the hunt for “the Decapitator,” the vicious serial murderer that has come to her hometown, she gets dangerously caught up in a web of lies about her birth dad and her own dark past. And once the Decapitator contacts Lane directly, Lane knows she is no longer invisible or safe. Now she needs to use her unique talents to find the true killer’s identity before she—or someone she loves—becomes the next victim.
