I bought 3 e-books the day before yesterday. But I'd finished 11 previously unread paid purchases over the past week (plus a freebie and a library book yesterday and today).

So I consider myself ahead. Especially if the weather keeps up and my public transit reading material will necessarily consist of e-books in a plastic baggie in the rain. Though I'll probably end up picking from the freebies out of sheer perversity.

Not to mention, every unread purchase you finish frees up space for you to buy another to take its place.

So now I can go and splurge on 8 more!

Price is stopping me. I really, really want that new Stephen King book coming out next month, but $18.99 is too darn expensive. I will wait until it is at the library.

That would be fine if my TBR list was only a few dozen ebooks.

It was at 440 when I started this thread back in June 2011. Since then I've bought 48 more ebooks, and my TBR is currently at 401. If I'd managed to restrain myself, it would now be nearing 350!

Under 400 by the end of the month is my current aim...

This is one good reason for a long TBR list. It makes it easier to wait for the ebook price to drop.

I should have started reading this when the thread started....

Hello, I am an ebook hoarder. Former DTB hoarder. My DTB collection is dwindling but my ebook collection is now enormous. (At least they don't collect dust). (I had well over 2000 unread print books this time last year).

My personal motto was to not buy any ebook unless I was ready to read it immediately. However, those sales get to me and I buy. (What is today's daily deal at Amazon, hmm?) I need to remember that and not buy a book only to have it sit unread for a year or two.

My Calibre has over 4000 books in it.

My goodreads goal for the year is 300, and I stand at 62%.

It has been almost one year since I got my first Kindle (KK-WIFI).

I hereby vow to keep in mind my motto-only buy if I am ready to read! That will hopefully last until the next 60% off at fictionwise.

Now that Kindle does library lending, those are keeping me busy! So don't need to buy any ever again, now do I! Do I? Will I?

Some questions need no answers.

I've just realised that this means I've been buying more than 1 book every three days.

I must admit I thought I'd been doing better than that. Perhaps I can last until the end of October without buy any more ebooks. We'll see. If I start to waver, I'll try to post here, to see whether you lot think the offer is good enough!

OK, I didn't think I have a problem so soon, but ATDrake recommended a mystery series over here, and mentioned that they were available at Fictionwise.

They look quite fun, and are only $3.39 to me (club membership), but I have 50+ Agatha Christie still left, and lots of other books in my pile too, so I wasn't tempted to buy them immediately, but I did add them to my wishlist at fictionwise.

And now Fictionwise have announced a 60% off sale. I can get them for $1.36 each. $13.60 for the ten that are available (the first ten of the series). And I have $22.29 in store credit from my purchases back at the start of this year.

So: should I buy them? There will, probably, eventually, be another Fictionwise 60% off sale.

You know - writing this has helped. I think I can resist.

^That's an awful lot of coincidences. Me thinks something doesn't quite add up.

I admit that I bought Uncle Montague's Tales of Terror during the Amazon sale. It was a weakness. I haven't even started reading it.

FW are surely testing your resolve. But remember that they'll likely have 60% off again to coincide with upcoming seasonal US shopping holidays.

If you must, then I recommend getting just the first 4 of the series, or maybe just #4 which is the award-winner and best-written of the lot, to try before you decide to add the remainder to your TBR. (This is assuming your Club Membership discount will not end any time soon, leaving you "stuck" with a higher price in the future.)

For all you know, it might turn out that you find the mini-lectures on Amazing Things You Can Find Out From Handling Bones With Magnifying Glass and Tape Measure (And Several Years Of Post-Doctoral Research) too irritating to continue with.

Yes, I agree.

I suspect he's going to wait for the chikkin to tell him to go for it, because those books, that sale, and that chikkenabler are surely too much for one person to resist, right?

Of course, now he'll probably resist just to prove me wrong, in which case everybody wins! (Except the chikkenabler, of course.)

In this case, I'd have said, buy them... You never know when they'll kill the servers!

I bought my first book in months today! I got talking about books yesterday evening and this morning, I bought that book...

It's not a serious novel and I'll probably finish it in a night, if I can actually continue reading... (or must keep laughing...)

Well, if I only had 100 books on my TBR list, I probably would have done. With 400 I decided not to.

Well, I didn't buy anything, but my to be read list just swallowed three more books:

That should hopefully finish me off for book purchases until the new year. Unless, of course there's a sale of things on my wishlists.
