OK as previously suggested I have this afternoon tried the earphones in whilst surfing the web on my iPad in starbucks (sad I know, but I love the coffee). So was I successful I here you ask? Erm no actually, as I feared I was touched by someone who wanted to know about my Ipad. Im drinking a cup of coffee, listening to music and busy reading through the mobile read forums. What more of an indication do you need that I do not want to be disturbed.

The head phone and music however did lessen the sound of the screaming child who won't stop screaming because the parents are ignoring it.

I've just figured it out. I'm an intolerant miserable old git who wants to be on his own. Not bad for 40.

I'm gaining on you mjhudston. I turn 40 on Dec. 12th. Course I wish I could take a decade or so off that, but sadly it doesn't work that way. lol.

yup....and we also get to answer the door in our underwear or even accidently nekkid because, well, at a certain point you learn it just doesn't matter and dang it, it's MY HOUSE...hehehehe...

I actually did answer the door and chat with the UPS guy a while back while wearing just the boxer briefs and a t-shirt...I seriously thought I had shorts on but here we were chatting and I started laughing...I realized I had offically "arrived" where it is fun to not care...plus, hey we are dudes and it truly doesn't matter to us...

When I've been interrupted despite wearing earbuds while reading, I just keep my answer short but polite, smile and then put my earbuds back in and resume reading. Works fine, and I don't get into a huff, which wouldn't be worthwhile.

I like my gadgets, but I'm not interested in giving demos and such. If people just wanna know whether I like a device, that's short and sweet.

Yeah, I've noticed that in Ballard and Lynnwood. WTF?!?! I'd pay double what I pay now to enjoy my tea and relax in a coffeeshop that expressly forbade kids during the hours I'm likely to frequent there.
