I'm going through a bit of an uncertainty cycle at the moment... trying to find something that works best... trying different things.

any significance that the "t" and the "i" are not capitalized; the "t" also formed like a cross ? or is that just artistic licence ?

Artistic licence more than anything else. The cross-T was intentional in order to break the monotony that was apparent when using the standard T. Likewise I like the dotted-i, again for the same sort of reasons.

To be fair, it was a painful font to work with because the creators really mixed up the upper/lower-case forms and spacings, necessitating the breaking up of the words into individual letters for adjustment :grumble: (good thing Inkscape let me align things).

The pain I'm having at the moment is that the hook-line/catch-line doesn't come out clearly - I suspect I'll have many hours and maybe days ahead of me forging towards the perfect solution. I've made it harder on myself by not wanting to make a huge 700x90 banner; having seen others on the forum I find them more annoying than not at such sizes.

* * *
Oh, nice to know that I'm in the top-5, rather amusing given it's an intro thread

Paul.

I know you've called it "high fantasy" - I wonder if potential readers might confuse that "t" with a cross ....

SO. MUCH. RAAAAAAGE.

I got a phone call this morning from DHL "We've got a package here that's come back to us..."

They're ~500km away in Cairns, apparently the delivery driver said the house was abandoned

That really peeves me off, we have courier drivers in and out of here every day because of my electronics business. Two cars in the drive way... open curtains, bird out on the porch, lawns mowed, doors OPEN ? Did the guy even look?

I'm honestly feeling like just crying-raging. Apparently they attempted to deliver on Tuesday - sad considering I was up at 8am, opened up everything, was WAITING for the guy all day.

Worst bit is, since it's in Cairns, it'll be another TWO DAYS before it gets here again.

Sorry for the rant... been a rough week and having this happen really just topped me over.

Paul.

Same thing happened to us a while back.
Sat and waited for a parcel, went to letterbox, found a note saying that as we weren't in to collect from P.O.

Hubby was steaming, so he 'phoned P.O. talked in his low, rumbling 'I am not going to take any cr*p voice'. Short story - parcel was delivered in just under one hour.

How are you getting on with the K3? Which means that I want one - now tell me how terrific it is!

Cheers.

Well... that's the problem... this -is- the K3 that we're trying to get delivered.

I checked up with DHL about 2 hours ago - scheduled to be delivered tomorrow.

I'm going to clean up the yard a bit and maybe cut out a vinyl stencil sign that illustrates very clearly that this house is occupied by two very hard working people.

I would LOVE to put out the front of the house a couple of really big posters for Elita's book - sure a lot of people wouldn't know about it and a lot of people wouldn't be our target market [ especially here ] but it'd be quite an interesting experiment.

Go for it!!!

Do you have a local weekly paper? They usually let you advertise for free.

Fliers in the library help. Having them as free bookmarks - your signature that you have been working on, People with ereaders also go to the library, I know that I do.

Just a thought.

Cheers.

I think I'd have to print them in A0 size, that'll cost me about $100/poster which isn't too bad when you consider it'll be a full bleed, full colour print.

Then again, it might attract too much attention to our little hovel

As for the library, we've already invaded that place - and the local bookshop.

So sorry for your problems, but hey - this ain't the RAnt thread - that's in the llounge (unless this is a blatant attempt to keep the interest in this thread and bump it up the ratings a bittie more !).

Aww, we're so close to the 100 post mark Not a problem perhaps it's time to just shift the discussion to other places. Maybe a personal blog-rant-thread?

Okay, last post - my wife's K3 finally arrived today, I wrapped it up and put a loving note with it.

She was extremely excited (easy way to wake an author out of bed - give them a Kindle ) but I have to admit I've been playing with it the most, very impressed - text to speech is spooky but the browser is quite nice. Tree of Life loaded with no problems, just a drag-and-drop in Ubuntu.

Many thanks - I guess it's now time for me to be released into the wilderness.
