No, in this case, k3 means K DX, and k3i means K DXi. Like any other packages, that's a 'strict' limit, it won't work on any other model the the *one* specified.

I have a Kindle DX Graphite and I live outside US (in Europe). I tried both dxg jailbreak and screensaver hack and both failed with U006 code.
Which version is appropriate for me ?

Thanks a ton it worked fine for me! I used the ss hack to replace those creeps with randomized Kirby powers images on my kindle 3w

I'm not a nub to hacking things, but i like instructions to be clear as possible so we dont have to ask dumb questions when trying a new hack. I re-write most readme files for clearness before i forget what i did. A couple things to add that could clear up questions i had but eventually figured out.

"Copy the appropriate jailbreak bin file to the root of your Kindle." -please add "The root is the folder with system in it." then they wont have to wait to see if the update thing is greyed out they will know they already have it right.

"Place your 600x800 (824x1200 if you have a DX) image files (png or jpeg) into the "linkss/screensavers" folder." - i thought ONLY 600 by 800 would work but i have tried all sorts of weird sizes smaller both grey and color and they worked fine. can it shrink larger images too? If so then just say that 600x800 is best or something so we dont go working hard to get perfect 600x800 images or greyscaling them beforehand.

"Anytime you want to change your screen saver images just drop a blank "reboot" file in the "linkss" folder (or in the "linkfonts" folder if you also have the Fonts Hack installed) after you've made your changes and you'll be good to go." - OR just reboot it. easy.

you can do it by serial guide at the beginning of the guide to be certain. 'Kindle DX Graphite: Serial no. prefix B009'

easier just look at the bin files. as long as you know the real name dxi vs. dx vs dxg the files are labeled.

also you should note on some versions the U006 is supposed to happen. "On FW 2.x only, the jailbreak update process will FAIL (with a U006 error in the lower left corner of the screen) but that's okay, it's supposed to. "

so assuming we are doing newest version jailbreak from this wiki and newer kindle, then you should get two successful updates, one with jailbreak and one with ss before dead people leave.

also i found you must do them in this order to work- jailbreak then ss hack- but it didnt hurt anything to have done the ss first by accident (failed of course).

for mine, it has only wifi and is k3, i used the "k3w" bins. but i didnt try them till i also checked the serial. i dont know if doing other wrong jailbreaks will affect things, wouldnt hurt to unistall them and dont forget to reboot after each update.

Hello! I feel like I've tried everything, but I can't make any of the new screensavers to show up on my Kindle. Only the new/sample screensaver that came with the hack shows up, and when I do something different, I get no screensaver at all. What am I doing wrong? Please help!!! Thanks!

No screensavers is better than dead people.

when you say "the new screensavers" did you mean a pack or just images?

if you load your own images to the kindle folder that has the sample hack image then all you need to do is reboot. it will still show the sample the first time maybe but just screen saver a few times to see them. make sure they are .png images

Hello

I've successfully updated my Kindle DXi and have to thank clarknova for this amazing and easy to use hack.
Despite my newfound ability to search hours after hours for new sleep indicating pictures,
I would like to know if it is possible to get them randomly selected?
I know that if you use other hacks which establish the linkss folder, among other things, that you can add a empty file and name it "random" before you reboot which will then do the trick.
Is there a similar way to do this with the clarknova hack or would I have to uninstall the "screen saver" hack and install a different one?

Hi so I am extremely confused. I have tried to do this like 100 different times and I dont know what I am doing wrong. I got this Kindle DX for a friend as a gift and I know they would love the custom screen saver. The jailbreak files are on my computer but idk which one to use. there are 4 different ones. if any one has step by step instructions that could help me? i would really appreciate it. thanks!!

P.S. I have a Kindle DX with the version 2.5.8 and the serial starts with B009
I have tried every jailbreak file and every time i unplug my usb and go to "update" it is grey and i cant select it. sad panda.
