I must be missing something here - most people seem to blame the Sony (Adobe) renderer or the EPub standard if a given EPub looks bad on a Sony.
I would say the primary obligation Sony has is to correctly render the EPub according to the EPub standard - and support standard CSS. Adjustable font size is important enough on these devices to be an exception. If it is possible to produce a great looking EPub - blame the publisher of your book if it does not look great. LOTR comes to mind. If it is not possible - then blame the Sony renderer. The EPub standard is really just packaging; all the pieces - like CSS - are from well tested Standards. Robert |

The problem is mostly whoever created the epub document. In the case of left-justification being the only option, then that's the fault of the ADE renderer version on the Reader, which, for some stupid reason, doesn't support fully justified text.
Epub can look great or like shit, just like a real book can look great or like shit. |

Acording to another post on MR, someone (I think it was Katz) said that Sony is coming out with new firmware in maybe a month. This was from some Sony person at CES. So one can only hope.

Some epub generator programs automatically insert basic css into the files, it would help to include standard @page and margin styles as well.
I have used several applications to create or convert epub books, my current favorite is SIGIL to clean up downloaded or converted files. You can edit the files in code and wysiwig modus and can do that directly in the epub file without renaming it. |
