I will have mine back on Monday. I imagine I will be among the first, unless somebody gets theirs today. I'll report on the changes as far as I can observe them. I have a second 500 that I haven't sent off yet (I figured I'd see how it works out first) so I will be able to compare them side-by-side.

Please do report in! I'm on the fence (although Russification is the key issue with me--would love to get ePub/borrowing functionality on the 500!).

I'm a procrastinator. I printed off everything Monday, but just got around to shipping of both of our readers today.

Hopefully we'll have them back shortly after Thanksgiving.

We sent in a 500 on Friday. So it should arrive at Sony on Monday. Given that it is supposed to take 14 days, I'm guessing it'll be back sometime the second week of December.

Not exactly happy but have no choice

Hi,

I'm not too happy with not being able to read epub books on my PRS-500 but living outside the US leaves me no coice but option 4. Calibre does a good conversion job to LRF - thanks Kovid for saving me in this respect - and that's all I need since I don't nor will have any DRMed e-books in the near future, i.e. until there is a real ebook mass market in Germany with cheap eink readers.
Anyway, I appreciate Sony's move for the original target market.

You do have a choice.
1) Ask someone (e.g. an MR member) in States to work as a reshipping point for you
2) Call Sony and ask them to send your device back overseas - it is possible, you will only have to pay for shipping to USA.

Just got an update from UPS. They've given me a delivery date of 11/27 (Friday) Everybody deserves a day off for Thanksgiving, so I'm just going to be thankful that I'll have it back on Friday.

I haven't kept up lately with the news, can I now buy epub books for my ezreader at the sony store? best sellers are cheaper there than anywhere else (since I can't buy from amazon).

The current word is Mid December they will be converting. The bad thing is I think you will still need to use the Sony software. I think may are hoping that they will allow you to buy from the Web site after the conversion. But, it is doubtful that they will.

Thanks for your thoughts It's worth a go, as they say in my part of the world!
It may be true given a recent phone call I had with them that I may have to pay mailing back too, but we'll see about that.. Linky It wouldn't be the end of the world if I did however (and not altogether unreasonable give the great distance between me and Laredo, Texas, USA).
