I have spent many-many dollars on books I didn't know existed, because of 'if you like this, maybe you'll like this other' offerings. And with FantasticFiction (http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/)available to check series information as well I'm finding any number of titles to buy. Also, the ability to look up books on the net and read sample chapters makes it a lot safer to buy a book that you aren't holding in your hands. As a reader, I'm loving all these opportunities to expand my library. As a former independent-book store owner, I worry about what's going to happen to bricks-and-mortar stores. Don't know if it's possible for me to add a message without gushing about how much I love your program, so here's my current 'gush'.

I just did my first search and hit the first hitch. It has nothing to do with your search engine...that works flawlessly...it has a lot to do with the publishing industry though... I found the book I as looking for, the price was 9.99$ which is fine for a relativley new title. However, I could only get it for that price via the Sony ebook store which still does not work in Germany...I would have had to buy it for 24$ on booksonboard. When will someone explain to ebook publishers and device manufacturers that there is always a way to get stuff for free if you can't buy it or if the price is ridiculously high? Sorry for the rant... |

anotherchance - BooksOnBoard changed the price for that ebook after we crawled them, but we will be crawling all our sources much more frequently going forward, so you will see fewer discrepancies. Good to know you found Inkmesh useful. We will look into adding WHSmith as well. Thank you for your feedback! Juliette, you're welcome, and thank you for your reply. CommanderROR, Bitte schön! We're with you on the geographical restrictions and pricing mess, and hope things change for the better soon. Glad you liked Inkmesh. fugazied, our vision for Inkmesh is to be the first stop on the way to finding the ebook you want, and indexing free sites is part of that strategy. Thank you for your encouragement! Deb, thank you, we really appreciate your kind words Yes, ebooks are the future of reading, but I hope B&M book stores can find their place in the new ecosystem - browsing books in a store has a special feel to it that's hard to find online. |

What's unclear to me is whether you will be able to determine a book's geo-status when your crawling other websites - it sounds to me like it would take much more time to accurately determine that. Perhaps this could be augmented by user tags, but I'd sure like to know before I go try to buy something.

Hi guys, Brilliant site - lots and lots of potential here. Some thoughts/additional wishes for you to consider your free time First, you're trawling a lot of sites, and are specifically looking for non-US offerings. Have you thought about adding a note about which currency is being quoted. Perhaps further down the track, you might like to see whether you can offer users a choice of which currency they want the results to display in, even if just the majors (eg. USD, GBP, EUR). Obviously I'd love to see AUD, but we can't have everything that we want... Second, have you considered the possibility of hyperlinking author names (and maybe some other fields). When I'm looking for books, I will often click through to see what else a particular author has written - linking is a quick and easy way to do this without having to run a new search. Third, when you're developing your date sort, can we please have chronological and reverse chronological order - I use both a lot. Finally, it's a bit of a pain to have to click the back button to get back to the main results list once I've expanded out the sites for a particular book. Perhaps a twisty to allow us to expand and contract individual results at will, or alternatively, a link to return to results? This is a brilliant idea, and there is so much potential here. Keep up the good work, and thanks. Cheers |

Hi LOVING this. seen you may be adding country filter soon. PLEASE PLEASE please dont ruin the functionality of the search by making it filter by ONE country. let me try and explain. Im in the UK and when all the international sites are crawled and added I dont want to see say French books BUT I want to be able to filter by UK and US, not just uk OR us this is because I can buy from the US sony store by using gift cards. An option to put ticks in multiple boxes for countries to search would work well. |

Anurag, Nice search engine. Thank you very much for your hard work. My suggestions: - Filter by format and/or device before or after searching. - Not sure if you have the data or not, but a DRMed versus DRM-free option would be nice. Thanks, Roy |

Darqref - agreed, geographical restrictions would be important to have as a search feature - we don't have all the data yet, but will start looking into ways to get it going forward. User tagging can certainly help, but only when we have enough users, and that's going to take some time unicorn23, multi-currency is on our wish list; it will probably show up after we add user registrations. Hyper-linking author names is a great idea, and will be implemented as soon as we add author-based searches (which we will, soon). Same for some of the other fields. Sorting ebooks by dates both ways makes total sense. Finally, linking to the previous results page from the ebook page is a great idea, and we will add it. Thanks a lot for your suggestions! stustaff - I see the need to allow multiple-country filtering. When we implement country-based filtering, we will use check-boxes. Thank you. MicheleC, you're welcome! Roy, you're welcome. Filtering by devices is our highest priority feature right now, so you will see it on Inkmesh sometime in October. We do have DRM data, and did consider adding that as a filter but decided against it for the first version. But it's still on our wish list, and we will get to it eventually. Thank you for your suggestions; it helps us a lot when our own feature plans for Inkmesh are reinforced by other users. lee1234, that's a good idea. Our homepage is going to be spartan for a while, but we might add bestseller (and other) lists on their own page later. We will think through this one. |

anurag, It's pretty obvious that everyone is quite impresssed with your new site (myself included,) and as you requested you're getting plenty of feedback and suggestions as well. The sheer number of suggestions sounds overwhelming to me, yet you're pleasantly considering and/or acting on each one with a very enthusiastic attitude and welcoming each comment with a totally open mind and good nature. It's very commendable that you should ask for suggestions and feedback from us, a group of readers, who will ultimately be using your site. You couldn't have chosen a better focus group than the members here. I'm sure it has not gone unnoticed either, the class you've shown by responding to each and every poster individually throughout this thread. It shows your commitment to your project and your sincerity that no comment is trivial or insignificant. We're all behind you and wish you total success with your new site which will be of benefit to us all. |
