So anyhoo, what's the story of you yelling 911? What happened? Robbery? Assault? Cannabalism? And did anyone notice it when you yelled it, or did they pretty much know what you meant? And does 911 in the UK ring down to Torchwood? And when is Torchwood ever going to come back on BBCA?

Well, if you are ever in the UK, it could prove to be one of the more useful things you've learnt here (but let's hope not).

112 is the emergency number over most (all) of the EU. http://www.sos112.info/

This was a long time ago and my sister was visiting with my only-just born Nephew and my mum (I seem to recall). Anyway I was watching, I think, Magnum or was it Hill Street Blues? I forget. Suddenly my little nephew stops breathing and goes a funny colour. Cut to a few seconds later and there's all kinds of screaming and panic (myself included) and I shout - "Call 911".

From that moment on, if there was ever an emergency, nobody was calling me

it is in france now too but my reflex is always 18 from the old days (fire department. they can fix any problem.

). technically 18 still works, but i think you're supposed to prefer 112 in an emergency...

I seem to remember a public information film about how to dial 999 when you can't see the phone dial (in dark/smoke/etc).

What? you'd like to know how? Just locate the bottom of the dial, the nine is next to the bottommost hole in the dial.
