I just checked; there are 15 Sony cover choices and 16 for the Kindle so there's only one missing. The ones I like are from thier Classic Journals Collection, large size: (horse designs on this page)
http://www.oberondesign.com/shop/car...=&shopByPrice=

And the Ginko design is on this page:

I think I will contact them;from what I've read here, they have excellent customer service!

Didn't take long for a reply!

Quote:
Dear Marcia, unfortunately the images you mention, horse images, are a very small part of what we do (not many requests) so we are not poised to invest in producing these images on electronic readers. However, we are now actively researching some way of allowing customers to order custom designs, colors and buttons on our site But Marcia, don’t look for this anytime soon. We are so busy just trying to design and release covers…next the Kindle DX…that this custom part of the site won’t appear for months. Hopefully in time for the holiday season but it might not be until next year. When this happens more images will be available…not all the horse images but probably the Celtic Horse and Standing Horse for sure. We are about to offer the gingko design on Kindle covers and if we have a lot of requests we will try to offer the newest images on the Sony Reader as well. Thanks for your interest and enthusiasm!!!! Becca
So I guess I won't be getting a horse design, but I may be able to get the Ginkgo design soon.

I noticed when going to this link that on the top left of the selections it has a Ginkgo Kindle 2 cover, but without a picture yet. So, I assume they are getting the Ginkgo design out for the Kindle 2 first and the Sony will follow soon after.

Big YAYYYYYYY! from me as I've been amongst the many who've requested the Ginkgo K2 cover!

If anyone buys one of these covers, I would be interested in some detailed measurements and pictures. I'm trying to figure out if there's any chance these would fit the Sony 500.

I'd go to oberon's website, and use the "feedback" feature to send them an email. Give them the exact measurements of the 500, and I am *SURE* they will answer that question for you. They are extremely responsive.

*trots off to look at the website & invest another $72 bucks, plus S&H...*

The description says that the leather gets softer over time. What about protection?

The thing I love about my M-edge cover is how rigid it is - very sturdy and I feel comfortable carrying my reader around in my purse. I liked the original cover, but never felt safe with it. I'm afraid I'd feel the same way with the Oberon cover, beautiful as they all are.

Could someone report back about how strong/hard/rigid/protective the covers are?

If you watch the Kindle cover video at Oberon, you will see a plastic stiffener mentioned at 1m25 in the video.

There is no link to /mention of the Sony covers from the main page itself. (It's only from the direct link, provided here, that you can find them.) Also, I note that clicking on the picture to view the cover when open - doesn't actually display an open cover picture. Instead, it just shows the cover closed picture again. So, I suspect that they are still working on getting the Sony section to work properly before making it active.

I'm actually going to hold off on ordering (I'm not quite sure if it would work anyway at this point) until these are "officially" shown as being available. The good news, though, is that it doesn't seem like this will take much longer.

Actually, if you are looking at one of the covers with a design that wraps around to the back, clicking on the picture will display the open cover - but only the outside of the cover. You can see the full design, but you can't see the inside to see the straps that hold the reader in place.

I actually emailed oberon to ask them if the pages are officially "open" yet, because I noticed you can't navigate to them, there's no picture of the inside (even though they refer to one), etc. I'll let you know as soon as I hear back from them.

My international order has been accepted and I received a confirmation email a few business hours later with all the correct details on it. The product codes in the confirmation email were correct and "non-Kindle".

In case anyone else has a 500 model, I got a reply from Oberon saying they think the covers will work for the 500, and will be happy to take it back if it doesn't.

I might be giving it a shot soon. My wife would love the butterfly cover.

I noticed today that the Ginkgo design is now in the Kindle2 section - offered in Red or Fern color.

Yipeee!! Fern was the color I liked best in that design; red would have been my second choice but I already have the Dooney & Bourke cover in red.

Now I just have to wait for the Sony Reader version. Happy Birthday to Meeeeeeeeeee!!
