A high school that bans an ebook reading device. Hm... that is counterproductive isn't it?

My son brought my Sony 500 to school all the time. He prefers his iPod Touch now... although I know not why.

Kindle doesn't have the buzz that Apple products do, most people want an IPOD even though there are superior products out there (for less money). But an avid reader of any age is probably going to lust after a Kindle (or some other e-reading device) and if a young person wants something badly enough they'll find a way to come up with the money to buy it. I think that's why there is going to be large range of ages for this device (I'm 51).

Have been using computers since 1980...build my own

60-year-old major "early adopter" ... but I waited until K-2 because I knew it would be worth it.

I was not disappointed!

Also, may i say that there are a lot of us out here....its good to be at a point in your life where you can buy just about any new toy you want!

I believe most Kindles are a year or 15 months old, give or take.

I'm 53 and I love my Kindle. My first e-reader was an ebookwise I purchased about 5 years ago.

I'm shocked that they banned ereaders. What was the rationale?

There are two Kindles in this household, and the average age here is 68. Go Geezers!
