Valloric, I was referring to a pattern of behavior over time (several months), not one specific instance. A single annoying post is easy to ignore, and does not offend.

But I do think that on average, the Sony Reader is better. That's just me though. Everyone else is entitled to their opinion, and I welcome hearing it. If someone here said that the Reader is crap, why would I be offended by that? Or even bothered? I'd debate it with them, try to convince them that it's a great device, but only for their sake. I already know it's amazing. If they still disagree, well... their loss. I certainly couldn't care less if the person continued to yell from the top of their lungs how the Reader is terrible, crap or whatever. And no one here does anything even remotely similar, for the Reader or the Kindle. All I see is well-argumented debate, and that doesn't make me want to ignore anyone, quite the opposite... it makes me want to join in. |

I'd have to agree that the Kindle news volume here is main a reflection of the news volume outside the site. You can't link to articles that don't exist and I don't there was nearly as much world press for the Sony reader as the Kindle. Heck it's even being reported as big news in the places you can't get it.

As far as all e-readers being equal... well, I'd rather go with the company that has a huge, established & stable library behind them. Seeing that nobody has quite figured out a good DRM model, it's good to stick with the big guys until the solution arrives. Or else you're stuck with a) a proprietary file type or DRM that went digitally extinct, or b) being at the mercy of what you can find that has a more or less global format that is open-source. Thankfully with ebooks, guys like the founder of Project Gutenberg have been conscientiously working on keeping e-books in usable formats for years. Edit: By the way, the Kindle talk is only going to get worse until the Mobile Read Kindle giveaway is over. You gotta register AND participate in the community to be eligible, and how many people who are hoping to win a Kindle 2 will really care about other topics?

I don't think there Sony is a bias here really Sony but rather enthusiastic individuals Sony who sometimes get defensive of their favorite reader Sony . Overall everyone is very helpful Sony and respectful of one another Sony and we all share one common thing Sony ebook reading. Afterall it is not the brand Sony of reader that you have rather that you have one Sony you enjoy.

Couldn't the over-representation of Sony discussions on this forum be a natural outcome of the way our Reader needs to interact with its content?

	1. Sony owners are *required* to interact with a PC to get our content. 2. Calibre. It's mentioned in Sony and Amazon reviews as a must-have. It's the only way to get magazines and newspapers. 3. Sonys need more format translation on the PC (for various reasons: can't get a book from Sony, Kindle doesn't support ADE, etc.). So we Sony owners have to look into these fora (forums?) to learn how to get the most out of our devices. |

I think that probably the main reason there are more Sony users than Kindle users on these forums is that these forums are worldwide and for all intents and purposes Kindles are limited to only US users.
