Standby support landed months ago, this is no longer entirely accurate. It's opt-in, true, but for good reasons (among others: this very issue on sunxi SoCs; and the fact that it horribly tanks page turn latency on i.MX SoCs for much less noticeable power efficiency gains than on sunxi).

In short, because it's a feature with a heavy trade-off that everyone should have control of, depending on their priorities .

After a week I no longer have button issues. I think I was just not pressing correctly. BUT sometimes my stylus notes will not save.

Make sure you are on 4.32 because export (if that's what you mean by save) still isn't reliable on the two 4.33.x versions I tried.

There is no explicit save. A notebook is automatically saved when you close it.
If you really want to explicitly save or have a sort of backup and copy to PC/Mac/Android/Linux later then you export.
Basic notebook is just an image, so options are png or PDF(with an image). You can export both.
Advanced Notebooks can have real text converted from handwriting, recognised maths, drawing converted (recognised) to shapes and text and actual sketch images. Export as docx (preferred) or HTML if there is more than text. If you only want the recognised text, export as text. You can export all three.

Unless Dropbox is integrated, the "export" saves a file in Exported Notebooks directory/folder in public root of Kobo visible when mounted.

There is no explicit "Save" option in either kind of notebook.

Hi all,

I am planning to get a sage or libra2 and today went to a local store to play with them
I have read through this thread on the button issue

I really like the sage over libra2, it is 1 inch but the difference is huge
I tested it in the store with the sage on firmware 4.34
Press switch page wait 3 minutes and press it again, no problem at all several times
So for the issue to happen, how long does it take for it to enter the standby mode? Or does it affected by charging? As the show unit is charging when I test it and I cannot remove the charging cable

I also tested with press the button edge or middle, both works nicely

I think at least press 30-40 times the page up/down button and only failed once(which is not related to timeout standby as it happen when I playing it, and I think it is more I press it so light that it missed)

As I have no problem on the battery issue and have more concern on button issue so I want to know exactly how often it may happen
I also don’t plan to use stylus
The usage will be reading some kind of programming books, manga , maybe sometimes pdf
Mainly read at home, so battery is not real concern

Thanks

There's no specific rule or time frame about it. It appears to be pretty random. And it has improved somewhat with firmware updates, right after release the issue happened more frequently than it does now.

If you don't press the buttons for a few seconds (around a minute or so), it is not guaranteed that next time you press them will work. It is very disturbing to be honest.

Charging should have no effect on this.

I have seen it very rarely on my Sage but then I read quite fast so I don't spend that much time between button presses.

I'm sorry for bringing up an old thread, but it seems the issue with the Sage buttons is still present, even on the latest firmware. I bought a new Sage two weeks ago, got it up to date, and then found the buttons only worked maybe like half the time (whether on charge or not, and even only waiting a few seconds, definitely not a full minute). I then found threads like this one and some on Reddit too. Figured I should confirm the issue is still present for anyone else landing on this thread.

Real shame as the device otherwise seems nice. I've returned it now and am sticking with my H2O until a new device comes along (and it's confirmed not-broken) or I find a Forma at a reasonable price.

It's present, but certainly not half the time for me; perhaps 1/10 or even less.
