We generally have the day to ourselves and the weekend after have the kids over and watch the grandkids taz through the wrapping. then a largish meal and watch bowl games on the tube. There is usually a fire involved, most of the time on the hearth...

Thus far we have had two coffees, walked the dogs, had a shower (together...TMI?), gone down to the beach for an hour-or-so of bodybashing, come home and had a swim in the pool, we're just calving the pork and turkey and already have the ham ready, The Loved One has finished making the Vietnamese Rice Salad and Pear, English spinach and blue brie salad, I'm into my second bevvie (the first was a couple of shots of vanilla vodka, early on, to help me face the day, but the current one is a ginger beer and rum, just for the pleasure and taste), I've missed two calls from Mum, missed one from one of my brothers (I don't expect a call from the other, since I'm currently the black sheep again), caught one from my sister, and now me and The Loved One are about to sit down to lunch (as prepared above), just as soon as I peel the boiled eggs (I love peeling boiled eggs, so TLO has left them for me).

Half the Day down, and so far all is relatively sweet. We're expecting summer storms this arvo, but we'll see.

We have my stepdad's family over xmas eve (they all just left, thank goodness), I rush to wrap presents, then Christmas day we open presents and sit on our butts.

It is excellent.

No plans really this year - didn't travel home, so it's just the two of us (and the dog) this year. And since the Post Office completely failed at delivering the presents to my house today...

Tomorrow will be spent sleeping in, making coffee, eating breakfast, watching movies (and probably ODing on 'A Christmas Story' ), eating dinner and basically just enjoying the day. There will probably be a long video conference home at some point, and some phone calls. And then some more food. And dessert. Lots and lots of dessert.

Oddly enough, courtesy of the USPS, we'll be celebrating Boxing Day this year by opening our gifts on Friday. Maybe we'll start a new tradition...
