Cool, I never though about delicious for book management.

I basically have some folders on my Mac with 'read' and 'unread' ebooks. A very basic and kinda crappy way to organise and tag books.

I never kept a record of the thousands of books I've read. But when I got my PRS-505, I decided that I would keep a list of eBooks read. I type them as an rtf file using word, then keep the list in Calibre. When I want to update it, I just hit the view button and word loads the file, I make changes and save it. I got my reader on my birthday in November, and I've read 12 books on it. That probably doesn't sound like much to some of you, but between working and going to Grad School at night, I feel like I'm doing pretty good. It's definitely more than I was reading before I got my reader.

I joined goodreads too. Took me a while, but I found most of the books I remember reading since the 4th grade. I thought I had read a lot more books than I really have.

I will say there are some series of books that I have read several times. (David Eddings, Robert Jordan, Terry Goodkind, L.E. Modesitt, Harry Turtledove, Tad Williams, R.A. Salvatore, etc.) I may have to go back and see if there's a way to note that I've read their books 2 or 3 times. Much to my dismay most of these books in particular are the ones that are NOT available in ebook format.

Edit: Solution...add more bookshelves. Now I have a shelf for books read twice and a shelf for books read three times. I might have to add another shelf eventually for books read four times or more.

Oh my, oh my...

Updated my TRL on goodreads and it consists of 95 books.
Considering that I read no more than 15 books per years.....I am aghast

However, I am very glad I joined Goodreads It forced me to actually create the real TRL and now I can see the whole picture and also I am sure now that if I don't like a book I don't have to struggle.

95 books....6 years....

I used to keep a list of unread books on my blackberry. Now I'm able to use goodreads to coordinate all my read, currently reading and to be read books. I can also see what other MR members are reading to get some ideas.

I have software for my DVDs/CDs/Books but am not very good at keeping it up to date. I tend to use iTunes for my CDs as I rip everything as soon as I purchase a CD and it makes for some nice reports. I rip my DVDs also but not all of them. I have not purchased a book in a year so have not had to update my pbooks. Most of my purchased ebooks are from Amazon but I have a few Fictionwise and plenty of Public Domain books which I don't list as I have over 5k on CD in mobi. I pull them when I need them.

Just found out that LibraryThing limits you to 200 books unless you pay $10 a year. I found this out when I went to enter book 201! Guess I should have read the small print!

Does anyone know if the other sites mentioned also charge after a limit is reached.

It is also $25 for life so it is not expensive.

On the other hand I paid this some time ago but have stopped using librarything...

I paid the $25 for life membership. I felt it is well worth it.

bump

I got caught up in another thread and then found this one.

At the moment, my reading list is in a post on a scrapbooking discussion forum. I haven't felt the need to do anything more complex than that. The simplicity of that post somehow appeals to me.

However, reading about different databases has intrigued me I have walked through the tours at GoodReads and LibraryThing and they remind me that I thought that Ravelry (a community for yarn crafters to keep track of their yarn, tools, and pattern information, and look to others for ideas and inspiration) was more than what I needed, but now I can even think of starting a knitting project or buying yarn without looking in there first.

With that in mind, an online database isn't such an odd idea and would help me with "what book next?" opportunities. I just need to figure out which one.
