* Fix services not starting on boot
* Fix root method PB631 et al, ie should now work on both old and new devices
* Fix rsync not running on older CPUs

Test on PB631:

Don't know if it detected PB631 and switched to different exploit.:
I had v6 (pbjb-v6-3-g671d61c) installed, used uninstall.app to remove.
Installed pbjb-v8-1-g2c9dc33, it went through without any other message apart from the obligatory do you wish to root ... and restarted, now I had root with pbterm (as before too).
Later installed services, it asked if it should update allready installed services which I said yes. Went through with update and rebootet.
New under Settings I find "Rooted device settings", but only System status, Reboot to apply changes and Root password.
All the other Rooted device settings are missing. Is this intended?
Uninstalling Services and Reinstalling it via Services.app didn't change anything.

Probably the update logic messing up :/ I assume services.app uninstall/install cycle fixes this?

Can't reproduce, and this shouldn't be really device dependent.

Do you think https://github.com/ezdiy/pbjb/blob/m...taller.sh#L115 produces expected result? ie the .sh files ARE in /mnt/secure/etc/init.d/*.sh, and the menu entries should be in /mnt/ext1/system/config/settings/settings.json

For some reason this isn't generated properly on your device so you'd have to figure out why. Normally I do this by running ./Services.app from shell, and look for the error messages it spits.

It's weird because you still get the *other* root settings. If it were profile stuff, it would disappear altogether, no?

Can you check if https://github.com/ezdiy/pbjb/blob/m...taller.sh#L115 produces expected result? ie the .sh files ARE in /mnt/secure/etc/init.d/*.sh, and the menu entries should be in /mnt/ext1/system/config/settings/rootsettings.json

If something of the above is missing, you can try running ./Services.app via ssh, and look at the errors it spits.

I think so, but honestly I forgot, I did it several times lately. Most likely I uninstalled using the old Unistall.app, then called the new Jailbreak.app. But I also remember trials in which Services.app asked me if I wanted to upgrade from 6.3 to 7.1 (non working services) and to 8.3 like in the latest.
So yes, maybe there is something device or profile dependent too (I don't use profiles). If you really need me to test, I could do it once again later...

Just did it via pbterm:
1) It starts with Version v8-1-g2c9dc33 already installed
Update to v4 Cancel Uninstall
2) Pressed Update to v4
3) Services installed, restart is needed ...

4) In pbterm the following might be interesting:
mkdir: can't create directory '/mnt/ext1/public': File exists
mkdir: can't create directory '/mnt/ext1/.ssh': File exists
chattr: stat /mnt/secure/runonce/*.sh : No such file or directory
tar: invalic magic
tar: short read
chattr: stat /mnt/secure/runonce/*.s : No such file or directory
head: /mnat/secure/etc/init.d/*.sh: No such file or directory
5) Restarted run services-installer.sh again, now it prompts for v4 allready installed, install
6) pbterm cd /mnt/secure/ and ls'ed the directories:
runonce and etc exists, runonce is empty, etc has only 2 folders in it: firewall &
terminfo, no *.sh files
7) No changes in the rooted device section
8) Restarted run services-installer.sh again used it to uninstall. Install v8 services restarted - No changes in the rooted device section-can't get via scp into pocketbook, connection refused.

No, that folder is fine. Look into /mnt/secure/etc/init.d. Is that folder even present?

init.d is not present, only:
/mnt/secure/etc/mod
/mnt/secure/etc/terminfo
