This time I tried checking out from the "regular" library view. When I said alt-text before, I was referring to the alternate text that is displayed instead of graphics when images are turned off in the web browser. As T3Reader noted, I didn't know there was a difference between my library's web site and Overdrive's. This time I tried Overdrive on the T3 instead of my library's web site. Here, I am showing: 1) What my checkouts looks like from ottawa.overdrive.com 2) What my checkouts look like from ottawa.bibliocommons.com 3) One book (at Overdrive this time) that has the "Add to app" button 4) One book that has "Choose your format" button; this one let me choose between epub and PDF. I chose epub. 5) Both books added to my library. The acsm downloaded, then I opened my notifications and selected them which caused the books to be downloaded and added to my library. So both my libary's web site and Overdrive both work on a T3. Again, both books never accessed with a PC or other device. It doesn't seem to matter what label is on the button. I'm starting to wonder if they specifically block the T1's browser? One thing that is kind of strange is that Overdrive and Bibliocommons don't seem to agree on what formats the books are in. |

It's starting to seem like the issue might be out of date Java.
Has anyone with Linux skills tried manually updating on their device? |

I finally got around to unbricking my one T1. While I was at it I rolled back the firmware version and rooted it.
I installed Dolphin, but downloaded .ACSM files aren't recognized. Unless someone knows what directory they need to be dropped in for these readers to process them, it's useless. I installed Overdrive (I couldn't find a Adobe Digital Editions app that might work with our low version android OS) and that lets you grab ebooks. Unfortunately, you have to read it in their reader, not the native one... and it's less friendly. So that seems like a failure. I'm going to unroot it and flash back to the most current firmware unless someone has an idea they want me to test first. Last edited by DoctorM; 02-16-2017 at 12:47 AM. |
