Looks like you all had a wonderful time. I wish I could have been there. (Fresh sourdough bread alone would be enough to inspire me.)

Lets see if I remember right:
  • 3+ Meet-ups in Paris
  • 1 in Scotland
  • 2 in Texas
  • 1 in the Washington, DC area

This is getting great!

Actually I got there early. The roads were well labeled, but for some silly reason, Google maps thought I might like to take a scenic drive down a twisty turny single lane road that suddenly became a dirt road. Now I don't mind driving on dry dirt roads, but my little car isn't designed to go bogging. Luckily I was soon back on asphalt and found the park with no wrong turns.

I agree completely. A technology savvy, quick witted, hugging family.

A whole finger?! No, that thing could take off the whole hand with no trouble. Luckily it's not big enough to decapitate anyone or slayda would need a "Guillotine on Board" warning sign for his car.

1 in England (or 2 in the UK if you like) -- the London meetup.

Looks like it was a great time (no trouble from local wildlife....?)

Wildlife? A bee bothered us while eating. Oh, and there was a big spider in the bathroom.

Oh, I forgot! This cute little old man and his grandson (?) wandered over. He was wearing a US Submarine Veteran hat. He didn't have a clue what was going on, but he hugged all of us girls. So Cute!!

I'm glad that you all had a wonderful time. We all raised a glass to you at the Paris meet-at about 9pm (Paris time) on the same day. It also went rather well.
The book scanner sounds very interesting. I would love to see one of those in action.

In case you want to investigate further, it is a Fujitsu Scansnap 500. I think the only real similar version available now is the 510. These are not TWAIN compliant (and if that term is meaningless to you - it is just a standard that most programs currently recognize) but it has it's own drivers and produces a PDF file as output. It comes with a somewhat restricted version of the ABBYY Finereader OCR SW. It is a page scanner & can scan pages up to 8.5" x 11" and can scan two sides at once. You can stack up to 50 pages at a time in it. Cost is about $400 on Amazon for the 510.

Fujitsu makes a newer version that is about double the price & is TWAIN compliant.

Only "bad" thing about a device like that is that you have to massacre the p-book to be able to scan it... And thats a "bad thing to do"(TM)

At least as far as I am concerned
