I know it's a small thing, but I was happy to see that the Nook "N" at the bottom is still a real button (not a design feature). I like the "home" button, both on my Nooks and on my Kindle Touch. Mostly I'm just happy to see that Barnes & Noble has not abandoned the e-Ink market.

The Kobo Glo HD is about as close as you'll get. It is smaller than the Voyage. But it might be best to wait for Kobo to release the mythical "Aura MiniGlo2O". That name is a joke of course, but I do anticipate Kobo producing a smaller waterproof reader.

Did you ever have a Mini? I loved that one. Only reason I sold mine was lack of lighting. But I loved the size of the Aura too. (I broke mine).

Actually the "N" is not a real button. You cannot keep it pressed. And for that reason turning on/off the glowlight like that doesn't work anymore. And it's a shame IMHO ...

One of them already has access to the internal filesystem, but it requires opening the device at the moment.

A rooted Nook ST running Relaunch is a thing of beauty. If the developers on xda can do something similar, I'd be tempted. Though I've sworn I'll only buy rooted Android out-of-the-box. But the Nook...

I loved the size and form of the Aura too, it's just the screen that let it down.

Well as a guy that has over 400 books from the days of "ereader.com" on the BN site this interests me. Hmmm

Okay. Not happy about that, but still it's there for the other "home" screen features. (And why would they turn that feature off?) I'm probably not going to buy one (I need another eBook reader like I need a hole in the head) but I'm definitely going to take a look. This will be the first time that I'll walk into a Barnes & Noble store for months -- maybe over a year? (So that's something.)

I have to agree about the Aura. I also have a Voyage with it's perfect screen and I do most of my reading on it but I really do prefer the size and shape of the Aura.

I don't think the screen is that bad. It's just that there are better screens available. If the Aura was my only ereader I'd be happy enough.

I've done quite a bit of reading on the Aura. This is another of those instances where they don't compare well when you're comparing but when you're reading they're just fine.

Well, I decided to buy one. I have a MacBook Pro. I tried connecting my new Nook to my Mac. At first, Android File Transfer popped up like it should. I tried to transfer a file from my Mac to my Nook, but the Nook window in Android File Transfer wouldn't take it (very odd). Then, the next time I connected my Nook to my Mac, Android File Transfer didn't come up. When I started it up, it asked me to connect an Android device by USB cable. So, my Mac can't "see" my Nook at all now. I tried resetting my Nook and still no go. Any suggestions?

Edit: My Nook now is "seen" by my Mac. Not sure why! Android File Transfer can see it. I can transfer books that way, but I cannot create new folders on the Nook through Android File Transfer.

Then, I started playing with Calibre. I got the same "failure to communicate" message when I first connected my Nook to Calibre. However, after a little while, I used the "configure device" feature in Calibre to tell Calibre where to send books. Then I tried sending books. Calibre could not see the books on my Nook, and they didn't show up on my Nook. But then, a few minutes later, they showed up in my Nook library. The next book I sent showed up immediately in my Nook library. But Calibre can't see the books on my Nook. That's where the communication glitch seems to be.

I bought one on the 21st. I put it into one of my many bookreader covers and it fits fine. The only shortcomings I see so far is that there are only 6 fonts and 2 font sizes.
Storagewise it has 2.81 gbs of space available for sideloading books.

I really miss that already, too. I used to use that as a little flashlight getting ready for bed sometimes. Now if it's turned off and I pick it up in the dark it will be next to impossible to turn the glowlight on if it wasn't already on when I turned it off... oh well.

I think there are ten font sizes, it's just that the way they have it set up it isn't as obvious as it might be.

There are two boxes; the one on the left shows a smallish font and the one on the right shows a largish font. Tap the one on the left to make the font smaller. Tap it again to make it even smaller, etc. When the font is as small as it can get, the text in the left box will be grayed out. Tap on the right hand box to make the font larger.

I haven't seen either a Mini or a Glo HD in real life. I've thought about getting the Glo HD but I've been hoping that Kobo would reconsider and do another 6" Aura. There's just something about the shorter and wider proportion that appeals to me, as well as the flush screen.

To try to appear to be somewhat back on topic, I'll mention again that the textured bezel of the Nook doesn't please me at all.
