This is only the second time (IIRC) so our only rule so far has been: "leave it up to the author".

But in his first post, he promised not to let Amazon/Lab126 "slow play" their fix forever.

Amazon has five models now running the 5.6.x series firmware - plus whatever they might be cooking up for the 'fall release' this year. That is a lot of firmware to fix, build, test, Q.A, etc, etc, etc.

A rule of retailing, products intended for the "Holiday Season" need to be on the store shelves by the end of October.

I guess the PW3 got tested a Few Times and doesnt need to be tested anymore?

But the Reason im Posting is, because i dont get if the Jailbreak will ever be Released. You will wait for Amazon. Thats Clear, but if they fixed it and Updated the FW. Is it Planned to be Released? Or if they dont fix it and just missing it. Will it be Released?
Im confused and dont get how you approach it. Sorry for the Stupid question.

And are the Tested Devices working well? (#Im so excited)

It will be released.
It will be released on the author's schedule.

The reason for the delay is simple:
It would be irresponsible to expose Amazon's products to possible malicious abuse before giving the vendor a chance to secure and protect them.

In his first post Branch Delay said he hoped that Amazon would release before the end of Oct. Like most here, I hope that Amazon agrees with him. However, knc1 rightly points out that the task in hand is not as easy as it might first appear. The question is whether or not Amazon choose to rush out a global fix [e.g 5.6.5.1], for one, albeit important bug, or will they sit on it until the next scheduled Kindle release (e.g. 5.7.0)? I know if I were the guy in-charge I would be pushing for the latter. Hey, this could be this month!! Or it may not be. In short, I will be trying to curb my enthusiam and leave it to the author and Amazon to sort out. unfortunately, it's going to take as long as it takes.
Of course, I am no expert.

Would it make sense to test this on the other models prior to release? Assuming this is going to be incorporated into the jailbreak package I would think it would need to be known which models it should be included for and which if any must avoid it at all costs.

As I noted earlier, I am willing to test this on my KT2 (Kindle Basic) which is currently at 5.6.5 in airplane mode awaiting the jailbreak. I would imagine the creator of this method has a stand-alone version that can be tested. As opposed to a general release I would suggest a private testing of the various models to prepare for the general release once the author is satisfied with Amazon's action or lack thereof.

Everyone, please stop PMing me asking for it. If I have you test it out and it doesn't work on your device, I can't fix it. Hence, testing it out early on multiple devices does absolutely nothing.

You can test it when it's officially released.

we only need the first four -- or six -- characters to identify your model, and posting the entire SN could allow malicious individuals to do things you won't appreciate very much.
