Either that or you will discover cin finds useful things in strange places.
I deeply appreciate all of your help, but I don't understand why that book would be good for me? It seems like a joke book?

This is actually a really profound idea. Thanks for sharing that!
I've had the issue where I refused to believe a school-related book was something important...

The usual suspects, e.g Animal Farm and suchlike.
Supposed "literature".

I can say with certainty I was able to read MobileRead for a long period but couldn't manage to manage Animal Farm.

I liked Animal Farm but I couldn't do 1984.

@FatGuy, you are putting the cart before the horse again.
If you are thinking "why is this important or what will I get out of it" before reading, you will get absolutely nothing out of it.
Quit thinking and just read.

True story, I talked to my mother last night. She is going to college. Anyway she is having to read a story that she is not liking. The darn thing is only 20 pages. She was trying to figure a way to get through it. My best advice was just read 2 pages at a time.

Remember what I told you in pm. Something is only as important as you make it.

You cannot know if something will have meaning to you until you read it.
So don't think about what you should get out of something. Unless of course you are making cookies or a cake. Those you should know the end result when you start.

Read for pleasure. Then, if you need to get something important out of it, reread it and take notes.

If it's just a bad book and you can't read it for pleasure, I don't know what you should do.

Have you tried a study partner or group? Maybe you could get together with someone who's reading the same book for class, perhaps agree to read a few chapters and then discuss? I know studying with other people is not for everyone - I always preferred to read or study on my own - but it does work for some people.

Sorry, I've got a lot of stress, but I'll read the other replies soon.

This is similar to my problem where I can easily read forums for hours, but sitting down and reading a specific book is much harder...

This sounds great, but even if I try to find people on the internet where there are so many people, how am I supposed to find someone who wants to read the same book as me?

FatGuy,
I think she meant books you are assigned in a class you are in. You know your fellow students.

I was thinking about you tonight.
The sufis are story tellers. They do very short stories which every hearer perceives differently. So remember what is important to one may not be important to another.

Also quit sitting on your life ticket. I think your worrying is holding you back.
Tomorrow I will find that quote I read earlier.

Yes, I thought he said some of the difficult books were for school, and therefore there would be fellow students to collaborate with. I suppose it's possible he is taking online classes and therefore does not actually know the other students. I tend to forget that things have changed since I was in school a few decades ago

I know someone who has difficulty reading and finds it helpful to listen to an audio version of the book while reading the text. I would hate this! but different things work for different people.

This comes from an old Japanese scroll.
"There is really nothing you must be.
And there is nothing you must do.
There is really nothing you must have.
And there is nothing you must know.
There is really nothing you must become.
However. It helps to understand that fire burns,
and when it rains, the earth gets wet."

When you get overwhelmed, remember that and just be the best you you can be.

Seriously if you got something out of that quote, great.
If you got nothing out of that quote, great.

I thought it was a good quote.
Someone else might think what was cin thinking when she read and posted that.
