Oh, that's unusual. Usually people get told off for flooding the forum with new threads...

As to relevance: not converting with calibre, plug-ins don't matter, my device supports Advanced Typesetting so firmware thread doesn't matter. I did skim through some threads on a search but as I said--didn't find anything /as relevant/. So the answer I need is: file format matters, and KP3 you don't know about. |

Amazon converts books it sells to KFX format and this format renders on newer Kindle devices and apps with enhanced typesetting.

Kindle Previewer 3 creates a variant of KFX and hides it in your TEMP directory. This is a separate file from the Master MOBI that is also produced by the Previewer in "My Kindle Books". The upcoming support for e-ink kindles in the Previewer will probably not change this. That will only add the ability to display the book as it would appear on that type of device. The Previewer will never produce a KFX file suitable for sideloading, AFAIK. If you are interested, you can find discussion of the Kindle Previewer 3 in one of the threads I linked previously starting at this point. |

Phew, a lot of reading. I hope not too many of the posts are arguing about why/why not hyphens are necessary . . .

Seems that just epub formatting can break the "Enhanced Typesetting: Supported" when using the sample.epub from Amazon. Strip it down to minimal details--no problem. Add some of my own CSS and HTML and . . . Not Supported. |
