Glo HD Covers

This is the only case I could find here in the UK, which would arrive in a few days. All the others were being sent from China.

It is quite good for the price and the reset hole is not covered. It is not branded in the photo but it has a small embossed logo of a lions head and the word 'august'.

I think most of these type of cases are all made in China (or where ever) and embossed with the seller logo.

It does the job and is solid enough, but does add a bit of weight. I also have a Kobo leather pouch which I may change back to.

No, it is short by about 8mm.

Not sure where the clips are on that case, but the Glo HD is 1 mm wider and quite a bit longer than the Aura.

Hi ! I went to the store on the way back from the office. Indeed, the 1mm wider of the Glo HD prevent it to fit inside But its longer size doesn’t matter.

By the way, I asked the vendor to outbox and weight the Glo HD official sleepcover for information : 106g.

I like the little pocket (handy for receipts and the like), but I'm always cautious about PU leather cases until I've seen reviews. Some of them smell really foul even days after they've been removed from the packaging. No reviews of this one yet on Amazon.

I ordered something like this off of ebay. Looks exactly the same. It might be the Omoton but it was a no name. Waiting for it to arrive. Will post when I have it.

That does look similar. I decided to "spring" for the $10 on Amazon (with $2 ebook credit for slow shipping!), so I'll report on the Omoton case when I get it next week.

I would have bought the Otomon but they did not ship to Canada. I'm sure it'll be fine either way. I have a case like this for my Glo and really liked it. More padding but thicker and a bit heavier than the snap in type case.

OMG they have it in green! First Glo HD case I have seen in green. As such, I already ordered and received a green case for my Voyage. But it's nice to see more color options becoming available! (Although that is not my preferred style).

The red Glo case I am using on my Glo HD is perfectly fine.

It arrived on Monday, and it is a nice case. A bit more padding than I was expecting. Makes it close a little off sometimes. Not a big deal, though.

Got mine today. The magnet turns my Glo HD into an unintended bit of madness. Open it - Kobo on and by the time it's folded back Kobo off or when I turn a page, shift the cover a bit, or just move around, Kobo off. No rhyme or reason except that the magnet is just too strong.

Is it possible I have a really sensitive Glo HD?

I'm thinking of putting a metal plate on the inside back cover where the switch is in the device, just don't know exactly where. I think this will cut off the effect of the magnet enough to calm things down. I think the magnet is in the lower right hand corner of the case as it sits closed. Does anyone know where the switch is inside the device? How thin a piece of metal would I need?

I've had a few cases like that. It's not the magnet inside the reader, it's the magnet inside the case that's too strong. What quite a few of us have done is use folded aluminum foil behind the reader inside the case. You're right that the magnet is in the lower right side of the both the reader and the case. You can usually feel where the magnet is inside the case. If you touch something like a fingernail file along the reader, you can find out where the magnet is on the reader.

Just keep folding the aluminum foil thick enough until the magnet stops turning the reader off when the cover is folded back. I usually just make it big enough to cover the entire back of the case since mine were the shell type cases, and I didn't like the one corner sticking up slightly more than the rest from the shell. So that's one way to do it, or just put it behind the lower quarter on the right side.

Funny, I thought of foil just before bed last night and hacked something together. It worked quite well. Something between 1/2 and 1 mm did the trick. I stopped at that first result.

Of course I was about to claim victory here when I read your post. E-book readers minds think alike. Now I'm really happy with my purchase.

I received the Omoton cover in a medium blue from Amazon yesterday.

It fits the Glo HD just the same as the $30 Kobo cover with a wider hole for access to the reset pin hole. That is not an issue as the reader is easily removed from either cover. Reader fits in snugly though so it will not fall out. The inside fabric on the Kobo cover is like a canvas texture and allows for a better grip than the Omoton. I have also gotten "hooked" the triangular tab on the RHS of the Kobo cover for two handed use w/o touching the reader except for page turns. IMO the Kobo cover is not worth the extra $19 for the triangular tab and better traction on the inside fabric. Both have adequate stiffness on the LHS cover to protect the Kobo Glo HD screen when not in use. I will continue to use the Kobo original cover and have the Omoton as a backup. Hope this helps someone else looking for a cover. Both are good products.
