I reread very few books. If the book is fantasy, science fiction or mystery/crime thriller, I mark it in Calibre (1-5 stars). Anything else just gets deleted because I know I'll never reread it and nobody else in my family is going to read it.

In the last months all I've done is reread. It's a comfort thing, with my mam sick then dying and now a huge move I need my old familiar favourites.
A non-rereadable book gets deleted as soon as I've finished it; unfortunately I haven't been reading the freebies I've acquired so they are accumulating on my Kindle though few will pass the test! |

Sorry to hear about your Mum.
I have to admit a known quantity in terms of a good book can be comforting and a welcome distraction in a time of need. |

I generally don't re-read as there's too many books I'm anxious to read and no matter how fast I tear through books, that list keeps getting bigger.
That said - I do make exceptions. I have a couple of re-reads planned this year mainly for books I've read and enjoyed, but found out later there were further books in the "series". I'm not against the idea of re-reading at all. However, it's always going to be a struggle to give a re-read the priority required to place it above a new read. |

I love rereading, although I have to let books rest for a while after finishing.
I have a lot of non-fiction references. I'll probably never read in case the appropriate circumstances comes up, but if I need them I need them so I don't mind the miniscule harddrive space they take up. |

I reread constantly. I am a moody reader. If I am in the wrong state of mind there are many books I won't be able to finish at the time. I often go through my collections and read series or authors that I haven't read recently. When I get in a slump I pick an old favorite. This is one of the reasons that my ereaders tend to have hundreds of books on them at all times.

There are a few books that are good enough to go on my reread list: LotR, King Raven series, Pendragon cycle; and it looks like the Temeraire series will join the others soon

98.3% of the time, I don't re-read. I only average 60 books or so a year, and the only one I read again and again on an annual basis (read in parts throughout the year) is the Bible, so that comprises the the 1.7% of my annual re-reads.
However, I do read another version of the Bible each year. I wonder if I can count that as an original read, instead of a re-read. If so, then I never re-read any book at all! I do have a long TBR list. That's because in between books, I tend to browse through Amazon or at our local Barnes and Noble, and I grab a couple more books. |

Huh. I can read a book a day. How could I afford my hobby if I didn't reread? Also of new books 9 out of 10 turn out not to be good enough to keep, 1 or 2 of those 10 are a drudge to even finish. At least with my keepers I know I like the book.

(*My average price for the books I've read this year is £1.73 ($2.50). So if I read a book a day, that'd be about £630 ($960) per year or £52 ($80) per month. Not too bad, considering the prices of, say, TV cable subscriptions.) Last edited by pdurrant; 05-14-2015 at 03:44 AM. |

I very rarely reread. I do have some favorites that I will reread every few years or so.
