I already tried that. It doesn't work. It's not allowed at least in Spain, but I suspect it should be the same to all Europe.

To answer my own post from 10-30, I found that several feeds I tried began with "feed" not "http". When I tried to add the feed I got the "cannot open or parse" error message.
My SOLUTION: Substituting http for feed did the trick. |

Aha, I tried it about 2 months ago, and gave up. I think your solution FTW!

Is it not possible to have the feedbooks formatted in the way that lets say real news papers are formatted from Amazon.
I think the feedbooks are great, but having to flip through all of those articles can be tedious. Im pretty sure amazon provides the software which makes all of the magazines and newspapers, so why not formulate the rss feeds into something the amazon software can interpret and then make the downloadable book that. Just an idea. |

Now that Amazon is releasing the Kindle software development tools, I'm sure someone is going to do exactly that with a Kindle-native app.

So - in terms of the Kindle wireless - what can a 'Global Wireless' Kindle do?
And if it is only Wikipedia and the book store, is it a real show stopper? i.e. does it make the kindle not worth it? Thanks oddeyed. EDIT: Thought I'd clarify; I mean what feedbook applications work? Does the RSS/Newspapers thing in this thread work? What about the Download Guide? Cos those things looked fantastic. Damn, living out of the US does have a ton of downsides. |

As for "showstoppers," it would depend on your internet access. Many ereaders don't have wireless networking at all. It's possible to just hook your Kindle up to a computer running Calibre and do everything tethered that way. Happy reading! |

So, has anyone in the UK/anywhere non-america had luck with this newspaper thing? Cos I love the idea of not having to tether my reader to a computer, which is a benefit which only really the Kindle has (AFAIK) at the moment.

Hello all, I just got my Kindle yesterday and was trying out the newspaper feature of feedbooks.com. It was all working well in the beginning, but somehow when I try to update the newspaper on my Kindle today it would just jump to the browser and show the webpage of the newspaper I was trying to update. (instead of prompting a message that it is downloading a file to overwrite the existing one).
I also tried to download the file again on my computer, but nothing happens after I click on the download link for any of the file types. I suspect that this is a problem with feedbooks, not my Kindle's/computer's problem? :P Anyone else experiencing the same problem? |

Yep. Same thing for me. Just stopped working... If you go to the website, the ebooks from news sources don't even download at all. They must have a problem on the server side. Last edited by cscannella; 03-08-2010 at 06:01 PM. Reason: add more info |

This may be diverging a bit from the OP's intent of this thead, but I just want to second Daffy4U's comment. I use Calibre while traveling around the globe to pull newsfeeds and create newspapers for my Kindle 2. If I have an internet connection - which I usually do either in a hotel or office - I can get them. Not wireless, but a very reliable, fast (assuming a decent internet connection speed), easy to use, and cheap.
I decided long ago that there is nothing wrong with a USB cord if it speeds things up or makes life simpler. As a result, I put books on my K2 in the US both wirelessly and through the USB connection, depending on where they come from. Internationally I find the Calibre / USB approach to be ideal. I hope this is helpful to some. |
