No Contract Phones 2014

There are several people here (me included) on the look out for an inexpensive no-contract phone to be used as a pocket-sized media player. BF is a great time to get one, because prices get really low. The key thing is to avoid getting an underpowered device. This post will list the phones and key specs. Also available online, where one would stand a better chance.

The Volt is a great phone for the price, except it's too big for me. It's the same size as my Nexus 4. I want one with a screen size between 3.5" and 4.0"; something the size of an iPod touch 4.

The other two phones Kmart is offering aren't acceptable. The specs aren't up to par. Hopefully we'll get better phones in this size range from the other stores.

Online? Awesome. If the phone I ordered doesn't work for my intended use, I may try to get one of these. (downloaded Scribd audio books).

I plan to do all of my black friday shopping online, I hope to, anyhow. Last year Amazon was price matching all the deals I saw on video games and dolls. Why try to fight for a game at Walmart, when you can sit at home and click?

I'm strictly online, with the exception of Fred Meyer (that's the grocery store I go to so I can drool over the Fire HD 6). They're a superstore, but they don't sell online. Go figure.

Anyway, I plan to be awake all night when the online sales go live.

Staples leaked a few of their BF deals. I haven't posted it yet. One of them is a free Kindle ($79) with any laptop purchase over $399. So far, I haven't seen any deals for a $49 Kindle.

How embarrassing for me

I haven't checked the store BF pages in a bit, because they haven't been populated with deals. Better start checking. I was basing my info off a press release from a few days ago.
