As we had three Kindle Keyboards plus a few replacements we got mains plugs with those devices.
I have always used them for whatever kindle I have, it's never been a problem. |

I'm interested in buying a Voyage, but that'll depend on when it comes out in Canada and whether I'll feel like shelling out 250$ for it when it happens.

I 'll be upgrading to a Voyage. I bought my Kindle 4 in March 2012. It got me through Uni. What a Godsend. I cannot tell you how many times I've needed a book real quick and I just get it straight away. I really enjoy the page turn buttons on the Kindle 4. The K4 has lasted me well, still works perfectly. I'm really looking forward to the 300 ppi, that will be a nice improvement from 167 ppi that I currently have on the K4. I'm pretty excited.
I live in Australia, so I probably wont be getting a wifi Voyage until January sometime. Read ! Read ! Read ! I have an Onyx Boox m92 for reading pdfs (that was also a Godsend). I'd love a 300 ppi 9.7" eInk reader. I do wonder how the Voyage will go for pdfs. The K4 was useless for pdfs, that's why I got the Onyx m92. See what happens.
I had a case where I was helping someone with a Kindle, WiFI was turned on and the collections on the Kindle were lost. The eBooks were still there, but the collections were gone.
Is there a way to prevent this?
() |

Voyage for me too
![]() But, very much wanted 3G. PW1 in the safe hands of my mum, and my dyed-in-the-wool 'no ereader for me' father is now keen to give my PW2 a whirl from November. So I don't feel too bad. if it is as good as described by tech reviewers, I shall stop there. |

![]() And it wouldn't really matter anyway. All device collections managing is a crapshoot, it's better to manage them in calibre. In which case, it really doesn't matter what the servers say, it can always be reset. |

Which, may I add, is available for the Kobo as well, and Kindle through a really simple hack. Obviously, the Nook is left out because they are too cool for collections altogether... |

Collections: ok you are convincing me to try Calibre for more than just the few format conversions I've already done. Do I just hook up my kindle and Calibre sucks it all out, or what? Do I need to deDRM or other junk first? (I usually don't bother with that; just keep files in amazon's archive). But for collections -- I'm willing to do a little work. Three step guide?

If you have a touchscreen Kindle, then
The plugin will generate a collections.json file based on calibre's metadata, you can configure which metadata to use, and books will be added to collections but not deleted (LibrarianSync has an option to wipe collections and start from scratch). |

Yep, the plugin works for all Kindles (except the very very first one) but starting with the Touch you need to jailbreak and use the Collections Manager in order to load the collections.json into the database. That is because Amazon moved the collections database into the hidden system partition after people complained that tools like this (used improperly I would bet, and the tool I am thinking of was not developed here on MR) messed up their collections.
