Also, some people don't turn on WiFi until they have to. For example I only turned it on when I used Calibre Companion and then turned it off. I don't have any need for WiFi on my ebook reader - it would only distract me from one thing I want to do on my ebook reader. Reading.
I must have missed the feature of automatic turn-off, but I admit I was not using default Lynx settings too often. I prefer to use default android settings. The way settings are configured in Lynx configuration is silly. If I recall correctly updates were done trough "About us" or something like this. I can't confirm - I'm still waiting for my Lynx to come back from repair. I also couldn't make sure if the option was available in Lynx when I wrote my previous statement, as I didn't have my Lynx back then(it was already sent). I was pretty sure it was not there, because it wasn't turned on by default, unlike Onyx firmware. That said my Lynx T68 went from 50%+ to 0% in 6-7 hours I slept, without leaving any traces on battery app. That happened multiple times, once it went from 100% to 0% in single night. Battery app was showing battery slowly going down trough night, it went down by like 10%. Then it suddenly dropped to 0. I wanted to make screenshot of that, but I couldn't. When I plugged the device trough adb the device went into bootloop. Once the bootloop ended the device wasn't showing older results. And afainber is right that Lynx turns off wifi when screen is turned off. When I was using calibre companion and left device for 5+ minutes the screen would turn off and device would disconnect form Calibre. Once I turned off the screen I would see the WiFi icon empty, and after few seconds it attempted to reconnect. |

Purple Lady, How do you like the Boyue T62? Would you mind doing a review in the appropriate forum?

So far I really like it. It uses up more battery than it seems like it should, but other than that I haven't had problems. I am planning to do a review at some point, but I am going to go back to the T62 rom first.

I have gotten back Onyx Lynx T68 from service. It might be just me but it seems to work faster than it used to... And I got a reboot 10 minutes after booting it up.
What I did: * download Calibre Companion * download Moon Reader * sync books trough Calibre Companion(only 3) * turn off WiFi * open one of those books with Moon Reader One I saw the cover for my book the device reboot. It was at ~99% energy. I'll give it benefit of the doubt and say it broke because I turned WiFi off. I don't use WiFi too often so if it will work stable from now on I'll live with it. Still, strike one, I guess. |

Well, after 2d 11h of use it ran out of juice, but with no more reboots. When it came down to 0% it showed me a screen prompting to connect the device to USB. First time I've saw it.
There were no more reboots, but it also lasted much less with similar use. Before it went for 5d to get to 50%, the crash level, now it went down to 0% within half of that. I just hope that just means they put in new battery and it's just getting adjusted and in the end I expect around 10d of work. No "turn off the system when not used" option. Especially last 30% disappeared within really short time. I've turned on WiFi, copied few books trough Calibre Companion(10 or so) and it was 5%. I've used the device for few more minutes and it went down to 0. |

Using WiFi drains the battery really, really quickly for me. It seems to use a lot of power.

Well, I almost never turn it on, so I can just connect the device trough cable when I want to get books on the device. I will see how long will it last without turning wifi on at all from 100% to 0%. But before they fixed it I've used WiFi sporadically and it didn't use that much power. I just hope the device was showing 100% when I got it back while it really was less

I've charged the device to 100% overnight yesterday. I've plugged it out 30 hours ago. No WiFi use, total reading time during those 30h: 40 minutes. When I wanted to read now the battery was empty. All I've used was callibre and moon reader+.
I heard something about wakelocks and apps detecting it. Anyone can suggest one? Also some good battery monitoring app. Maybe it's telephony.apk, I might root the device and delete the thing... I heard it helps... But I would prefer not to root, as it seems I might have to send it to service again. Last time it meant 2 weeks without T68. Not to mention it takes time to pack and send the device ![]() I've looked into that Tasker.apk that someone suggested before, as that might allow me to turn off the device and then have it fullscreen afterwards. It's paid app, no demo, so I can't check if that would allow me to make fullscreen automatically. Last edited by Areinu; 10-17-2014 at 11:25 AM. |

You have the Boyue T62? Nice, can you set it up as you can with the T68? Such as having Nova launchers, and other launchers. I've attached how I have my T68 set up, would this be able to replicated on the T62, and how is using a SD card with the T62. As I think it has the Android update that makes it harder to use the SD card with devices that don't have the Android 4.4 update.

@EricArcadia: I see you are reading comic books. How long does your battery last when reading comics using Comic Rack? Do you get a lot of ghosting between pages? How do you get rid of black bar at the top while reading comics? Or does it not bother you?

I've just been on vacation for a week and took the T68 with me. I want to say that I've used it a LOT (with backlight on too) in the aiport, airplane and during my vacation. The battery performed very very well.
The caveat is no wifi usage though. As soon as I've turned the wifi on to read some news, then the battery went down precipitously. Regardless, I'm happy that at least in one scenario it performs admirably ![]() |

I have been running wakelock detector for 2 days and there was total of 2 minutes detected.
I've removed TelephonyProvider.apk and Phone.apk yesterday, after rooting. Since then the power usage almost stopped. Might be coincidence and just the device reporting power wrong, but I hope it isn't. I also changed launcher. I believe that WiFi on ebook readers only deters from experience, though it's useful when installing apks from store. As I've rooted I've also remapped the circle button from d-pad to work like home button on regular devices. I've made simple apk that does nothing except for toggling full-screen on Onyx. Now it kind of works as I expect, only touchscreen is very inaccurate. |

First you need to be rooted. Then there is a thing called Xposed Framework. You can find it here: http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.ro...osed.installer
First you have to install the installer apk, but the one available on the site won't work. When you'll try to install it'll throw an error. If you go into description it will give you a link for bigger installer, which will work. Second thing you need is Xposed Additions, available on play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ed.additionsgb Once you install both run the installer.apk and install. Then enter xposed additions and it will let you remap the buttons. It's kind of tricky to add the buttons on Lynx, because it constantly detects button 211 'wakeup', but if you press other button and instantly press OK you should be able to add the button you need. Unfortunately it sometimes fails to work and the button will do the default action. That's why I currently have home on circle and default action on hold circle. When I had "recent apps" on hold circle sometimes it would turn off the light and then when I held it again it would bring out recent apps, making it hard to turn the light on again. When tap center sometimes doesn't work it's not a problem, because pressing it second time works. It might be possible to tweak xposed to work more reliably though. |
