Water and Dustproof! Do we really want/need it?

I have an Aura with one pin prick, which can only be seen at a certain angle. But, as I got it used for under $100, it's easy to see why it's never bothered me.

Paying $179 for a device, one would hope there weren't any pin pricks. I do want the Aura HD H20. I'd like to hold out for the holidays, so hopefully there will be plenty of user reviews by then.

There's no point having all this water and dust proof if the thing has pinpricks. This issue is a blight on ereaders. It's a lottery, you never know if yours will have them. Which is not good enough imo. Kobo, Amazon etc. need to do more to end this problem.

Really>? And I mean really, its not even released and you are all ready going on about pin pricks. Which until its released its a moot point.

I have three pin pricks on my Kobo Aura. I paid £120 for it. I knew it was a risk but took the chance. I can see them all when the light is up high but they are top, left and bottom on the screen so don't impact my reading at all.

Why did you keep a device with a faulty screen while you paid top dollar for it?
I do understand you are somehow "lucky" that the pin pricks are somewhere at the outer edge of the screen, but it is still a faulty device. You should let it be replaced for a proper device.

I had my Glo replaced a few times because the first one had several grey spots of 1-1,5cm at the bottom. The second had a screen with an uneven light distribution and the light changed color from white to yellowish.
I kept the third Glo as it had none of the mentioned issues.

That may be what I'll do, as well.

I really love my Aura HD - the slightly larger screen and the clarity is extraordinary. It's already a wonderful reader.

Living on a boat, I'd love a waterproof and dustproof device. Would I be willing to pay more for it? Only if it works better than my currently very frustrating Glo! Bright colours are preferable to reduce the likelihood of it being sat on and a drop proof screen would be awesome.
