They're Constable & Robinson books, I believe. They could have been 84p for ages, like all those mysteries that were on sale in January and never went back up.

Thanks.
Sorry, Harry, I don't agree with you on this one. The 2014 Hugo Voters Parket certainly qualifies as a deal for sci-fi/fantasy fans and Orbit's decision not to include their three nominated novels greatly affects the deal. I think the discussion of this is entirely appropriate in this thread.

I for one am very interested in this topic! Last month someone asked if the Hugo packet will contain the Wheel of Time series in epub format or if it will be in PDF format. Obviously the former is more attractive.

Still no news as to format for WOT but since it's from Tor/Forge is will almost certainly be DRM-free and will probably available in both mobi and epub formats. Same is probably true for Baen's nominated Larry Correia novel Warbound.

Also, Tor/Forge has an alternate download link for the 2014 Campbellian Anthology on its website, in mobi and epub format. This anthology contains all of the shorter Hugo-nominated works by new writers as well as exerpts from the eligible novels.

Here's the link: http://www.tor.com/blogs/2014/02/201...ology-download

Maybe a separate thread could be created for discussion around the decision for previews with the "Hugo Voters Pack'. I for one come to this forum to look for deals and would prefer not to have to search through other responses to find those.

Just got an email from Night Shade Books promoting a 24 hour deal on Scourge of the Betrayer: Bloodsounder's Arc Book One by Jeff Salvards for $1.99

So far the price has only dropped at Kobo so I'm guessing that Amazon's price will change at Midnight PST and B&N's will change whenever their servers hit Midnight (Kobo's already have).

Amazon US | Kobo | B&N

Quote:
Many tales are told of the Syldoon Empire and its fearsome soldiers, who are known throughout the world for their treachery and atrocities. Some say that the Syldoon eat virgins and babies–or perhaps their own mothers. Arkamondos, a bookish young scribe, suspects that the Syldoon’s dire reputation may have grown in the retelling, but he’s about to find out for himself.

Hired to chronicle the exploits of a band of rugged Syldoon warriors, Arki finds himself both frightened and fascinated by the men’s enigmatic leader, Captain Braylar Killcoin. A secretive, mercurial figure haunted by the memories of those he’s killed with his deadly flail, Braylar has already disposed of at least one impertinent scribe . . . and Arki might be next.

Archiving the mundane doings of millers and merchants was tedious, but at least it was safe. As Arki heads off on a mysterious mission into parts unknown, in the company of the coarse, bloody-minded Syldoon, he is promised a chance to finally record an historic adventure well worth the telling, but first he must survive the experience!

A gripping military fantasy in the tradition of Glen Cook, Scourge of the Betrayer explores the brutal politics of Empire–and the searing impact of violence and dark magic on a man’s soul.

*Whispersync for Voice audiobook available for and additional $4.49 when buying the Kindle edition of the book.

This one is very good (my review, in case you're interested http://sentidodelamaravilla.blogspot...-salyards.html ). I'm reading Veil of the Deserters at the moment and it is even better.

Yeah definitely go for the audiobook as well - I listened to the beginning this morning and have really enjoyed it so far. The reader is James Marsters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and I think he is the VO artist for most of the Dresden books. Totally worth 1.99 IMO.

They did for me -- I had subscriptions to both and they converted them. Easy to do since, even though they were annual subscriptions, they were being billed monthly. Check the site to see if this is covered in a FAQ -- it was when I converted my subs last year.

EDIT: Unless I'm looking at the wrong page, it looks like this deal is over.
