I'd pretty much agree with that, Taylor514ce. I tend to regard it as a way to encourage people when they do good stuff, whether it's helpful, entertaining or whatever, so I tend to focus more on giving it than getting it.

I admit I like seeing my number rise, but other than the visceral "more is better" appreciation, I don't much care about the actual number.

Let's just say that my mind is forever in turmoil. You shouldn't rely on me for anything - particularly for keeping a commitment.

Oh sure. But I'm on a lot forums, even run my own vbulletin forum, and I've seen people get very worked up about the reputation/karma feature.

There's certainly no harm in caution of attributing too much value to such "reward" ("reward" would seem a tad contraindicated by the concept of "karma" anyway), though if a degree of casual maturity and jovial friendliness is shown I think it only reflects and serves the community in a positive manner. Should one become concerned at it, it might serve oneself and as a reminder to others if the option was available to "reset" one's karma.

After all, performing a "karma reset" is somewhat available to us all in real life.

(I'm not complaining or criticising, but I can never figure you, Taylor514ce. You seem to be a ambiguous blend of the entertaining and the serious and the entertainingly serious and the seriously entertaining. Love your work).

Cheers,
Marc

PS. I'm giving you karma, because this post deserves it for its "constructive" nature, and because I'm fond of the irony

Everyone should have plenty of irony in their diet, but I'm of two minds about ambivalence.

Yes, the experts have long been divided on the matter of dietary ambivalence.

Oh! Oh! My ratio has gone up to 6.85. Karma increasing more rapidly than posting. How can this be? I will admit, I really, really wanted to get karma for my "Jesus Christ!!" post. That would have been ironic on a vast, vast scale. Reminiscent of the Family Guy episode when Peter thanks "the Lord", and the scene cuts to Jesus saying, "Actually, it was...", and Shiva, standing next to him says "Forget about it. Happens all the time".

JC...karma...irony in diet. It's all rich tapestry (there's something in there about "threads" too, but I'm too un-caffeinated to bother).

My karma just ran over your dog. I'm sorry, but your dog ran straight out in front of me, like it was fated or something. I really did try to swerve, but my path was already chosen and it was not possible for me to deviate from it or stop. I think your dog had his eyes set on something and couldn't see anything outside his own blinkered vision. Perhaps we should teach our dogs about watching themselves when crossing the paths of others.

(Did I just wreck that joke? I do hope so).

Cheers,
Marc (it's an anagram of "karma" but with a "c" instead of a "k" and also missing an "a" but otherwise exactly an anagram).
