I just realized that because of a stupid typo in my packaging scripts, it was a random version, and not the latest, that made it to the snapshots thread...

I can't remember the last time I tweaked this, so you might want to check with the fixed packages I just finished uploading...

Well there's still not the design I just added manually in the package, maybe we are simply misunderstanding each other constantly; Are you saying that in the BatteryStatus extension of yours, it should now be possible to use both designs? Because that's currently not the case, it still displays only the old design -- not Aeris'.

Anyone know why files in the /usr/share/blanket/screensaver directory can be name-changed, deleted, added to, etc., but those in /usr/share/blanket/splash (or shutdown) can't be altered, deleted or added to? Seems to me I could do this using PW1 and Kindle Explorer (via Kual), but with PW2 no go. Huh??? Has it something to do with permissions?

That sounds like a recipe for bricking your kindle right there.

Yup, which is why I tweaked it to add a white outline. It looks like crap on the Touch, but works quite well on the PW

Yes, made the backup and then moved my graphic into /usr/share/blanket/splash once I'd "eased" the permission. Now here's what I get when I do a restart.

I don't know if it's such a great idea to hack the splash screen. If, say, your kindle were bricked and stuck on the splash screen, good luck getting a warranty replacement. CS may be lax, but they may notice JAILBREAK on the screen

It's not even that. There was some "file size" requirement that caught me out doing the low level ones on the touch in the past.

Ended up really messing up the boot to the point where I had to mount as USB every boot just to get by the splash screen... nasty.

My .png file size is about 125kb and the dimensions are the standard 758x1024. So what happened? Were you able to fix it?

@ixtab: You mentioned getting your new device sometime this week and wanting to create backups of the system partition. What I'm wondering now: Is the operating system identical even for devices without 3G? Because I have a Kindle Paperwhite WLAN only (Germany) and I'm not sure if it would be possible to write back that partition then.
