since amazon screwed up the free 3g thing, I've had to use the old kindle less, but I do still carry it with me since it's useful little tool/toy. I love some of the apps on that little thing... that little pirate puzzle is awesome.

|
I originally started with the old Pocketbook 360, but upgraded to the original iPad so I could read CBR/CBZ in colour. After that I bought a Kobo wireless because I wanted something wasn't bulky and I could put in my pocket. Since then I've bought an Archos ereader (a complete waste of money as they didn't keep up with the firmware), but more recently have purchased a Kobo Arc (32GB). Admittedly it's a tablet but it's used for reading books (via the Kobo app) & comics (via Perfect Viewer). So yes, I don't use my old ereaders, but that's only because I've now found a tablet that I can happily use as an ereader

I've been reading more on my tablet lately it's just very convenient to put books on over wifi or dropbox and I like that I can add and pick my own font choices, page colours etc.
I'm sure my T1 will still get used a bit as I've my main library already loaded onto it but the tablets very tempting with the Mantano software I've even read a few pdf's with it comfortably which was a no go beforehand. My ideal would be someone would making a dedicated e-ink reader with the same kind of raw horsepower as a tablet and ideally the same reading software choices. It's kind of sad they team that make Mantano make a complete mockery of Sony's software despite the headstart Sony have had over everyone else. |

Yeah I have seen that but being a cynic I take kickstarter type projects with a grain of salt, maybe when the finished article is actually available and I've seen a few reviews I'll take it more seriously.

For me, the only thing that matters is, can I read. And I cannot read fiction books on a tablet, or any other backlist device like phone. My eyes start tearing up and I get a headache.
I have a 8.9 fire, we have ipads in the house. I love my fire for playing games, surfing a bit and such things. I do not read on it. I tried, but its just not possible for me. For me e-ink has brought back the joy of reading for me. I had to really put the breaks on reading because of the small font and fading text in paperbacks. So while battery life and all the other stuff is nice, but in the end, only one thing matters to me. Can I read my books. I would still use an e-ink ereader, even if the battery on a tablet was longer. That is me though, everyone is different. So if there wasn't any e-ink or equivalent device for me to read on, I would not be able to read much anymore. So I hope they will always be around. |

No, I do not use my ereader less. Nor do I use my tablet any less. I just use my ereader for reading and my tablet for everything else. Started with a Nook Color, but just didn't like the reading experience. Never thought about why. I bought my first ereader (T!) and it has been heaven ever since.
