Ordered 2/23, received 3/24 - but none have been shipped since I got mine, so there is yet another hold-up going on.

A quick update...

As previously mentioned, I placed my kindle order on 4/1. I received an update email early this morning (at 1:11 am EST) from Amazon stating that the ETA is between 4/22 and 4/29. Woo hoo! I hope I don't jinx myself, but I may get it in time for my vacation that starts May 1! I need to start looking for books now so I can just download them as soon as it arrives.

I ordered a second Kindle on Tuesday, 4/15, for the spouse and I got an email TODAY stating that my ship date would be between 4/24 and 4/30. Now there is a change in policy, before the standard line was just "we have no idea."

I ordered on 4/15 also and received an email today saying I could expect a ship date between 4/24 and 5/01. Looks like they are catching up on all the back orders they had. I was really surprised to hear from them so quickly, was expecting a week or two before I heard anything about a ship date.

From your later post it appears you will have your Kindle in hand before your vacation starts.

Now -- find yourself some good books to read. If you like Science Fiction, try out the Honor Harrington series by David Drake, available at Baen. I'm now on book #3 and am hooked. Because you'll want to experience the immediate delivery of a book or two from Amazon, pick out at least one best seller in your favorite genre and make that your first order. Then, since owning an eBook reader is "good for you", plan to download at least one or two classics that you've been meaning to read, but just never got around to. Personally, I'm starting in on Anthony Trollope rather than tackling something too intellectual like Flaubert, Chaucer, or Aristotle.

Have fun.

3/25 to 4/18 fast!

For those anxious, UPS says I'm getting my kindle tomorrow when my notification was for 4/20-4/27 Amazon indeed filling the backlog faster than expected!!

I already pre-sampled so it will be interesting to see if they are on the device before I open the box.

Best,
tony

I will check that series out - I've read some David Drake before and have enjoyed it. Thanks for the recommendation! I've been browsing the Amazon Kindle bookstore online almost every day and have added a lot of previews to my download list, some of which are really just reminders to buy them as soon as it arrives.
