Actually as I recall Mr. Bradbury himself saying in a TV interview the title came about because he was trying to find a reference to the temperature at which paper burns. After looking through several reference books with no luck he hit on the idea of calling up the local fire dept. and asking someone there. The man was able to look it up and tell him the temperature at which paper catches fire is 451 degrees Fahrenheit. And so Mr. Bradbury just switched the Fahrenheit and the 451 round to come up with the title. So while books are usually made of paper it was a reference to the temperature at which paper catches fire not a reference to burning books which inspired the title.
