I am getting this annoying error for some of the AZW3 formats. After latest kindle update, Calibre converts some of the books but gives error in some cases. If I wait for a day and then convert those books, Calibre will just do it without complaint. I am not sure what is causing this.

But when I couldn't convert Amazon books in Calibre, that suggestion did solve the problem. Didn't make sense to me; I subsequently unchecked the box, and the problem stayed solved.

Right! It's almost as if you have to "train" Calibre to recognize and import the AZW3 format - for subsequent conversions & plug-ins to work.

Done, done and no dice. Very persistent. Should I remove Calibr and reinstall it? I have the latest version.

K4PC files are regular AZW not AZW3. Neither works right now.

Are you running the latest versions of both Calibre & K4PC? If not, update both.

Don't confuse the file extension with the format. Files with an ".azw" extension in K4PC can be "old" Mobi, Topaz, or AZW3 (aka "KF8"). When you import them into Calibre, Calibre will show you the format, not the extension.

Yes I think there was something about some books needing a work around.

K4PC Version 1.10.1 (40262)
Calibre Version 0.8.66
Tools 0.3.8

And I think that is the problem, I "updated" to the already existing 4.8 version. But now that i try the downloaded 5.1 version I get an error message from the 5.1 folder saying does not contain a top level py file.

Ahhh, I feel soo stupid.
Turns out I thought I'd updated the tools, but the plugin manager pointed to my admin setup, but I've cretaed a user account for myself. Hence, I kept upgrading the same old version. Now i changed the setup, extracted the ver 5.1 of the tools, installed them and it worked like a hitch.

Soo, soo sorry for all the confusion. Silly, silly girl. And yes, being Scandinavian I am indeed blonde.
