iPod How Would You Improve the iPod touch?

What do you want that it can't do. It gets iOS 5 which adds a lot of stuff to the product including several features previously on on the iPhone. It can be had for $199.

I have no interest in an iPhone, and there is nothing here to tempt me to upgrade my iPod Touch (the current one will get the iOS 5.0 update).

It's like Apple just gave me $300 !

If developers start exploiting the significantly improved graphical capabilities of the A5 processor, that's going to be a problem... especially given Apple's claims of it being a gaming device.

$199 gets you 8GB (5+GB of user available storage) and no way to expand it. I tried 8GB at first and quickly discovered it wasn't enough. So I went with 32GB. In my opinion, 8GB is pretty much worthless without a card slot.

So very true. Funny how the phone got the improved gaming capabilities, but not the gaming device.

8GB is tight on memory but it is improved with the free cloud in 5.0. As an iPod 8GB is enough for music but as a PDA more memory would be better. As a cloud device this is probably enough. To add all that hardware would significantly increase the price of the unit. Perhaps this could be a new model. Of course an iPhone gives you all this if you really want it.

While cloud is great for Apple purchased content, it's pretty worthless when there's no wifi hotspot available and when you wish to store non-Apple content. 5GB doesn't get you much room.

An iPhone requires a 2-year contract and an expensive data plan for a subsidized model or $649~$749 for an unlocked one. That's not an option, it's robbery.

The memory part doesn't bother me but my main complaints are terrible battery-charge life and too small of a screen. There is plenty of extra real estate on top and bottom to stretch the screen to a wider and larger format. No matter though as I'm selling my touches and getting the Kindle Fire. Plus since I got my Android phone I rarely use the touch. My iPad crapped out after 6 months and I just got it replaced. I think I'll sell the replacement and be done with Apple.

It's the going rate for using a top-rated smartphone. Lots of people pay it. If you don't want to , then you're going to have to settle for the ipod touch.

While Itunes has its quirks, I have not found it to be a dog. What problems do you have with it?

I'm thinking about the KF, instead of the iPod touch. Dunno if I can give up the App Store or podcasts, though.

Actually, going rate for high-end unlocked smartphones tend be in the $400~600 range. I'm guessing Apple is getting a lot of money from carriers for their devices. I'm planning on pre-ordering the iPhone 4S. Whether I'll actually keep it to replace my iPhone 4 (which I'm quite happy with) or ebay it, I still don't know.

I know it is; but that still doesn't make it right.

Anyway, if the Galaxy S 4.0 gets good reviews, I'll be ditching my iPod touch and kissing Apple goodbye. The Galaxy has a whole host of features the iPod doesn't, like:

• mSD card slot
• higher res camera
