Adobe Digital Editions 1.8 preview now available - Page 6

I've just seen this thread .... so pardon the ignorance ..... has ADE taken over a year to create an upgrade from 1.7.2.1131, as in have they merely been creating and testing all that time? If so, my goodness!!!

Because that's the version that's showing on mine and I haven't had any indication from ADE of an upgrade.

They've been creating and testing. The next version, 1.8, is still in... well, they're adding features, so I guess it's technically still alpha.

Still, they're putting up previews for download (see earlier in this thread) if you want to try it.

I was having trouble authenticating using the old ADE after trying (and not being able to use) the Preview. The problem with Preview I had is occurring with some regularity. I had uninstalled Preview some time ago.

In any case the solution for my Windows 7 64 bit machine was to go to C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Adobe_Systems_ Incorporate and delete the Preview file.

This file was not uninstalled when I uninstalled the program itself.

I don't know if you acutually have to do a reinstall of (old) ADE, but I had deleted plain old ADE as part of my Ms Fixit activities, so I did one.
