The issue on the existing Kobo implementation is that they only support the dictionary on materials on KePub format; not native ePub's.

I think we were told that was because of the rendering engines being used, and the hooks they needed was not present in the engine used to display ePubs.

I watched the video once more time. Some features are
not obvious to me, but it may be since I accustomed to
the old kobo. Till now I have some 5-600 epub files to load.
How long it would process?
My best bet is that nothing could compare to physical ap-
proach. If the screen is white, letters black, contrast fine...
Sounds like self present somewhere at fall.

I have a question though, the follow your books and stats thing, will it be available for the files you add with drag & drop as well as those bought via the store?

I'd imagine awards/stats based on sideloaded documents are coming soon. I believe we have some for the iOS apps, and will be rolling them out to the eReader as well.

It's super nice to hold. We made the quilt larger and it feels better than the quilted back on the Kobo 1 and 2 IMO.

As for battery life Kindle has change their page saying the K3 now has 2 months battery life. I guess if B&N claims the new nook does Amazon figure they can too. I think Kobo is being actually truthful on battery life. My K3 with Wifi & 3G off normally last about 2 weeks with me reading 3 to 5 hours every other day. 3 weeks tops if I let it sit and use maybe one to twice a week for a few hours.

Two months? No way I wont believe that one.

Sad that it has to be so gamey isn't it?

I think it's about time e-reader manufacturers had a standard way of measuring battery life. The number of page flips seems like a pretty good way in my opinion, rather than something like x weeks which is very dependant on how long you use the device each day and what you do (wi-fi access will eat up battery much faster than a page flip).

I personally totally agree. But you can't really tell if that will be meaningful to the person making the buying decision, thus giving rise to these approximations and scenario math.

Perhaps the relative difference is what matters and not the absolute numbers when comparing products. Something to think about.

Correct. There's no extra slick glass cover to collect my grubby fingerprints. It's quite a nice experience really. IR Touch FTW.

Can't wait to try both Kobo and Nook in a store.

I like the Kobo design better than the touchscreen Nook. It's like the K3 but without all the button clutter. Right now both are making my Kindle 3 feel ancient even though I got it in February.

I did notice in the Engadget Nook video that the guy tapped three times on the screen to do a page turn and nothing happened. But the CNET video showed the touchscreen as very quick and responsive.

I eagerly await a new Amazon model to see how they respond.

Does the new Touch Kobo come with the same 100 books as the earlier models? I know I can download them for free anyway, since they're in the public domain, but it's a nice convenience.

Hmmm... noticed something... They claim to be the first international eReader. What do they mean by that? Sony is not only available worldwide, but it supports menus in more languages than Kobo.
Don't get me wrong, the Kobo seems really good, but I hatre false claims!

Edit: Maybe they mean the first Kobo eReader with multilanguage support. Then, of course, they are right...
