All the books I've been formatting recently are posted in Sony BBeB and MobiPocket formats. I've been doing them one right after the other so I don't forget the MobiPocket formatted books. If you like SF/Fantasy, you might like some of the books I've been posting.

Ok so I have it my hands, well it is lying on the desk connected to my laptop. Moby Dick is loaded and I'm ready to rock and roll. It has taken 2 days short of a month to arive

This is the first e reader Ive ever seen. I think I'm going to like this thing.

I see virtually no ghosting, screen very clean and easy to read. Just not very enthusiastic about figuring out a new gadget today. We have had our first rain of summer and I think I will just go read for a while. I'm sure I will be full of questions pretty soon.

Simply enjoy your reader Martin, I am sure you will love it. I recently was confined to bed for the better part f a week, my Iliad kept me sane

Enjoying this thing

Thanks everyone. I was not feeling like working out this thing but curiosity got the better of me and I am up and running. Downloaded the new software and all seems to be well. The stylus was a bit odd but the calibration has sorted that out perfectly. The device seemed a bit daunting but once I called on my reserves of discipline and sat down with the manual it was a breeze. What really helped was having something to actually read a pdf on. I know most people, Harry particularly, said that the screen was wonderful but I am still surprised at just how good it is, unexpectedly good.

I am going to just put down a few notes from a complete newbie. The screen is a treat and as easy on the eye as a book. Being able to set font size is a great treat. being able to carry around a bunch of books and have them open where you left off saves time and more than makes up for the start up time. I have never used bookmarks and page back and forwards looking for where I left off, silly I know. I have a bunch of free books at the moment as I have yet to sort out where I will be buying books. I do mean free and not stolen All I have bought is a dictionary on special with a thesaurus, and there is another cool thing about the reader. At the moment I am reading Moby Dick and The Creatures Of Man by Howard Myers.

What has thrown me a little is I have not yet figured out a way to hold the iLiad comfortably. That will come I am sure. I expected to be annoyed by the page change but it is not too bad, I am inclined to change pages before the last line and that speeds things up a little. Having one page up instead of 2 as with a pbook also feels odd. The note taking is also going to be useful for me. I purchased the software that converts to text and it seems to work well.

What I still need to get my head around is pdfs and all the trouble people seem to have with them, will load some now. The other thing is buying books. I am so used to browsing for hours in a book store that I am a little at sea buying ebooks. Not the buying you understand but the selecting. For me the prices are less than half what I pay locally for pbooks. Walked past one of my local bookstores and almost felt sad in a way over an experience that has been such a big part of my life for so many years and is set to diminish and I think disappear from my life.

I am planning on getting an iLiad for my wife now. Guess that says it all.

http://mobipocket.com/

provides free downloads that allow you to read parts of the book.

Usually it will be the table of contents and the first chapter.

And the websites try to offer suggestions based on current selections, topics, authors, best selling, etc.

I know how it feels. Internet search and Online ordering and e-books have deprived me for ever from the joy of finding that rare, hidden under a pile of others book, that I wanted so much and found after hours of browsing.

Anyway here is another site with 1000nds of free books (DRM/copyright free, in mobipocket/html/pdf formats) that you may like.
(I think will actually post it in a new thread for all)
