I would think it would make sense to update the ads whenever the user synced their Kindle. You download books, you get new ads. The way I see it, the Home screen has to change when you get new books anyway, and if they are pushing screensavers with this new software they have, there's probably not a need to update the firmware each time.

Does that make sense?

My thoughts exactly. It makes perfect sense. Every time you connect to the internet with your kindle, you go through the Amazon servers (which is where the discussions concerning Amazon knowing what you browse stems from).

When you connect to the Amazon gateway, they verify that your kindle is legit and not blacklisted etc. etc., so they know exactly what kindle is connecting (model and owner). To me, it'll be really easy for Amazon to just push new ads to the AdKindle models whenever they connect online (because when users connect online, the kindle automatically connects and sends information to Amazon).

I wouldn't buy one with ads for $50, I despise advertising in any form.

I gladly pay Sirius/XM to listen to music without ads. Cable TV used to have no ads, look what it's become these days.

No thanks, no ads for me.
