I kind of angle mine so it shines a little more away from the Kindle. not quite perfect, but getting there!

I would love to know this myself! I was thinking about this just the other day. I wonder if nothing else, coloring the light with a pen would help?

Same question, I think it would help with my SO issues.

I tried to rotate the sceen to landscape, but the light from the cover is still far too bright

I'm thinking about some kind of "sock" on it, to reduce the brightness.

I just received my e-luminator light from M Edge. I have been using the Octovo.

To be honest, I like both, equally. I do like how the e-luminator fits in the the M Edge New Yorker cover, but I also like how the Octovo fits on the Kindle.

The only down side is the e-luminator can't be used with any other cover then an M Edge.

Octovo is pretty yellow, and I like it. And the battery life is simply amazing!

I was wondering if anyone from Canada has ordered the Octovo light? I am interested in getting one, but they only ship with UPS and UPS loves adding on extra charges at the door. So I'm wondering if anyone got one, how much extra did you have to pay when they dropped it off?

Ahhh, I am STILL in search of a light, lol. I think I'm leaning towards the Octovo Solis. I am mostly a bed reader so a light is important to me. Right now I have a paperback book light that I just lay on my chest...yeah not working so well. I don't mind dim lights, and I may even prefer them. I like clean lines and I want it to be lightweight. I think I would love the lighted cover if it only weighed less.
I also have a DecalGirl skin on my Kindle, so I was thinking that the issue with the Solis being a tiny bit loose would be fixed by that.
Does anyone have any reason I shouldn't get the Octovo Solis? Thanks!

From what you guys have said, the Octovo Solis seems to be a very good light. However, before I invest in such a luxury, I wanted to know a few things:

The picture shows that it can clip directly onto the Kindle. In this position, can it snap off easily?

Also, could it clip onto a Kindle with a protective skin (not a decorative skin like DecalGirl; protective skins are thicker)? In other words, about how thick of an object can it clip onto?

Finally, does it run on AA or AAA batteries? The description states that it runs on AA batteries, but this review claims that it runs AAA batteries. Could someone who owns this product please verify which one is correct?

Thanks!

I bought a similar light from Target.. and returned it. I didn't consider that I'd have to remove the light in order to use the cover. Too much hassle for me. I prefer the lighted Kindle cover so I have it all in one neat package.

The Amazon link you reference specifies 1 AA battery. The Octovo page also confirms one AA battery.

Edit: looking at the pics of the Solis, it looks like a very simple clip attachment.. which appears very easy to attach/detach. Looks pretty good to me... and it should for $30.

It sort of slides on the kindle. The pieces are long enough that it won't snap off. I have not had that happen.

I use it with a Decalgirl skin, and it fits fine. I am not sure how much thicker protective skins are, as I do not have one. There is a pad on the inside of one of the "prongs", it could easily be removed. It is roughly 3mm think.

It uses AA batteries.

Hope that helped.

Thanks for your answers. They helped me out One more thing though:

Could you tell me about how thick of an object it would be able to clip onto?

The inside measurement, this includes the little pad, is approx 8mm.
