Oops, sorry, I should have paid more attention.

In the dr.ini file mentioned above you see the line:
Code:
/apps/er/sys/ctb/filetypes/doc-fbreader/extensions=pdb;fb2;zip;rtf;orb;tcr;opf;oebzip;chm;
change it to:
Code:
/apps/er/sys/ctb/filetypes/doc-fbreader/extensions=pdb;fb2;zip;rtf;orb;tcr;opf;oebzip;chm;mobi;prc;
It is important that the settings are not overwritten by the DR after you have changed them. So best thing (on a DR1000) is to shutdown the DR, remove the SD-card, edit the file, insert the card and start the DR.
Eject/re-insert will probably also work, but I am not sure. Mounting the DR and un-mounting will probably not work. I am not sure if the content of the dr.ini is read to update the (internal) gconf settings.

Hope this solves your problem.

As for second thing I can locate the files from the app now.
The file I could not see when I put the file in to root/Books

Go to popupmenu -> Open Preferences -> Format. Choose "Options for Regular Paragraph" and set the "Space After" variable.

This doesn't always work however. I've tested it on a chm file where it worked and an epub file where it didn't work, so right now I've had 50% success.

On a different note, has anyone looked into adding support for a 2-column mode? It would be a great feature for the DR1000 because of it's screen size.

You did not see anything in the dr.ini file because since R2.0 not all data is written only the non-default (forgot about that, since my dr.ini is really old, still containing R1.7 stuff).
Good to hear that it works now.

FBReader has a lot of options, though most of them are really well hidden

Alas, this and other formatting options (justify, left, right) don't work on the Epub file I tried. I will convert it to Mobi and see if that works. It seems like quite a pain to read a badly formatted book.

It appears that this option doesn't work for epub files, but it works fine for the mobi version of the same file. Thanks again!

Lightbulb Hide FBReader top toolbar and use DR bottom toolbar

[Only for DR800+ or Mackx's DR patch users]

FBReader toolbar at top wastes a lot of useful vertical space and many of the actions are already available from the menu... so why not remove it?
We could move main actions to DR bottom toolbar.

But this toolbar is managed by DR's popupmenu so I presumed it was a complex effort.
I was wrong, it was very easy in fact. You can see the code at [1] and a couple of screenshots attached.

The idea is to run FBReader from DR navigation always, not to run FBReader and open books from inside it.

Anyway this is not perfect. Here I list some issues:

1. I had to rename FBReader fullscreen-toolbar.xml file as toolbar.xml
Should we change FBReader package included toolbar or modify FBReader sources to check at runtime? We should find a solution for both advanced (dr800+ and mackx's patch) and normal users.
LATER: the best solution should be to ask which toolbar to use in the FBReader installation

2. FBReader contains a "library mode"
These options are not present on the menu so we would lose these features. Moreover, the only way to open a book will be selecting it on CTB.
LATER: not a problem for me, but don't know how other people use FBReader...

3. FBReader changes its own top toolbar contents in the ToC view, adding a new button/icon to back to reading.
As we won't show the top toolbar anymore we can't click on that icon. Only exit available is to select some section in the ToC or close the doc and open it again.
I think changing DR toolbar from FBReader could be hard and involve much time.

What do you think?

Nice job.

Have a look at my changes to make the toolbar configurable in a generic way. In that way you do not have to change popupmenu for every application.

I used it in xournal, see this changeset (although there are more things changed with the changeset).

Uhmmm... quite interesting... I have to take a look at it and use your code in DR800+.
But FBreader code is so complex I don't think it's worth to use there. I mean, just for one tiny issue in FBReader (back from ToC).

Thanks for the comments.

EDIT: patch ported to DR800+. Thanks again Mackx

FBReader us a great tool, that gives us the power to format the books exactly the way we want them to be --- except for epubs. Epub books don't respond to the settings in the "Styles", "Format", and "Margin" commands. Mobi versions of the same books display perfectly.
