failed to send mail - Page 6

Hi - I'm new to Calibre and have been attempting to set up automatic delivery of a particular UK newspaper, using my standard Mobileme address on my Mac. The paper in question (the Guardian) downloads quite happily but every time I attempt to send it I get the same 'failed to send' error. This happens whether I simply put my email address in the 'Send email from' slot or fill in all the MobileMe smtp server details....(incidentally I think the preferences in this section of the programme are quite confusingly worded). I have ensure that the correct SSL encryption is enabled...but no joy

Can anyone shed an light?

Who knows why Mobileme doesn't work? Get a gmail account--that works like a charm and it's free.

Thankee. Will give Gmail a go.
I still think the developer (big kudos to him for the app) could take a look at tweaking the wording in this section of the preferences. It's not as clearly worded as it could be...

Okay...Googlemail does work. However, I have now run into another problem. Sending the Guardian (my newspaper of choice) to my Kindle fails and I receive an email from Amazon station the following:

"The following document(s), sent at 12:59 PM on Thu, Jan 13, 2011 GMT could not be delivered to the Kindle you specified:
* The Guardian _ The Observer [Thu, 13 Jan 2011].epub

The Kindle Personal Document Service can convert and deliver the following types of documents:
Microsoft Word (.doc)
Rich Text Format (.rtf)
HTML (.htm, .html)
Text (.txt) documents
Archived documents (zip , x-zip) and compressed archived documents
Mobi book"

For some reason I do not understand, the Guardian automatically downloads into Calibre as an epub file, a format not included in the list above. Why does it do this and how do I change it? Yes, I am aware that you can convert each edition individually, but how do I get it download in a Kindle email compatible format automatically?

Set the preferred output format in Calibre to be mobi and then news will be downloaded in that format.

Thanks - that does work. Am a bit startled by the absence of any kind of contents list or index in the resulting file on my Kindle though...

Scrub that - there is a contents list

Just not in an obvious place!
