I just spotted this one over on social media. You can get a copy of "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up" by Marie Kondo from Audible if you go here and use the promo code TIDYUP1. It is supposed to be good through 1/31.

skinmaan Your audiobook bloodhound PS - I thought about not posting it to deny Gtr her favorite, a non-fiction self-help title, for slamming the Great American Pastime. Fortunately the audiobook lover in me won out over the baseball lover. Go 'Cards! |

Baseball forever. The great beauty of baseball is that, as Yogi said, it's never over till it's over. Your team can be down five runs in the ninth inning with two out, and still come back to win; no clock is going to run out to end the game. Baseball allows the fans the time to engage in endless discussions and analyses, to agonize over each play, and to second-guess each managerial decision. Best. Game. Ever.

Something interesting happens only about once an hour. The rest is B 0 R I N G. Baseball games are a great time to take some books and catch up on some reading. Oh, and I was a baseball manager. |

In the high schools in my area, at least, a student was the "manager." In baseball, I had the serious responsibilities of retrieving foul balls outside of the playing field, making sure all of the equipment got loaded for away games, keeping stats, etc. The coach was called a "coach." I was trying the other day to remember if I did it 2 or 3 seasons (I think that it was 3). I liked it okay, but I knew all of the guys on the team and it was my high school. In professional baseball, of course, the coach is called the "manager" for some reason. Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 01-09-2017 at 08:15 PM. |
