No, it was regular 2-day Prime. It certainly isn't offered on every item I order on a Friday, but I know I've had more than a couple Sunday deliveries. It's possible they are more common around the holidays (as an inducement to do your shopping online).

We do have an Amazon warehouse in town (maybe in the last year, I don't remember exactly)...but I just checked the package and it say's it's from Kentucky and is specifically marked with Sunday delivery.

I have never gotten a package from Amazon on a Sunday, even during the 1-year period when I had Prime. They must have different policies and/or different arrangements in different locations.

Amazon has had a contract with the USPS to do some Sunday deliveries for a long time now. I've gotten one a time or two.

It's Monday, again. I think that it's some kind of national holiday here in the States. I don't know which one. But, anyway, YourClassical has not taken the day off, and is offering its usual giveaway of the day (Mondays-Fridays).

Today, the freebie is Ludwig van Beethoven's Fidelio: Overture, taken from the Naxos album of his Overtures. I notice on the image of the album cover that the recording is from 1987. However, the album's webpage says that it was physically released in 2013, so I suspect that it has been digitally remastered somewhere along the line.

This 6 minute, 16 second piece is performed by the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, with Stephen Gunzenhauser as the conductor.

I thought that the last Veteran's Day was a week earlier than it was. There were so many advertisements, flyers, etc. in the newspaper a week or two before it, that I thought that it had to be the week before it was. None of these advertisements told us when it was! I guess they think that everyone uses a calendar that tells them. Well, I don't. And I'm probably not the only one.

Speaking of which, have you noticed that not only is there quite a bit of advertising for Christmas already, but it first started appearing about a month ago! At least, as far as the things that I read are concerned. At least I know the date of Christmas . . . .

It's been two weeks since Alexander Street's last freebie, so they have provided a new one today.

Oddly, it is a Beethoven work, as is YourClassical's for today. Maybe it's his birthday or something, I dunno.

Anyway, the freebie is Symphony No. 4. The recording is performed by the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitane under the direction of Alain Lombard. Here are the individual pieces:

I live in Florida. There are very few Jews in my immediate vicinity, but there is a large percentage on and near the southeast coast in places such as West Palm Beach. A large regional grocery chain (Publix) always devotes a significant amount of space in their flyers, around Jewish holidays, to Jewish foods.

Some of the "buzz," that I heard and/or saw, about today being a holiday (without being specific about which one) might have been related to that.

It may be Beethoven's birthday, too. See my posts above.

Advertising and stuff on shelves. Big Lots put out their Christmas stuff this weekend.
